Chapter Three.
Erika's POV.
I got into David's car while I let out a huge sigh. "You are perfect at acting." I complimented him while I burst out into laughter. It was funny, and at the same time, it was really painful.
"That is the father of your child? Are you sure you are okay? I mean, you, uhm, you haven't seen him in a while, and with the way he acted, it looked like he still had feeling for you." He questioned me.
"You know I am not that weak, and besides, my daughter doesn't have a father. I was the one who raised her, and I am her father also." I corrected him.
I didn't think that I would ever be able to accept the fact that he was the real father of Rose. I knew how much I struggled to get to the stage where I was. It wasn't easy for me to raise up my child, so I wouldn't just want him to come and claim Rose that way.
David ignited the car engine while he drove off. My mind went to all that happened in the past.
It was so tough meeting him today, even though I was the one who planned the meeting. I just wanted to show Charles that I was doing fine already, even though I was not okay.
The only way I could do that was to take someone with me, and act like I had already moved on. To be very honest, I don't know if I have moved on already. All what I felt today was irritation and disgust.
We got to my house in no time. "Thank you very much for your help." I appreciated David; immediately I came down from the car, and he came down from the car also.
"Are you sure that you would be okay after what happened this night? What if he doesn't want to partner with you anymore?" I questioned David out of worry.
"Are you kidding? It's going to be a huge loss to both our companies if he rejects the offer, so I don't think that there would be any reason for him to reject it. He might even want to get closer to you after what happened." David answered.
"Help me greet Rose." He sent his regards to my daughter. "Sure." I answered while I walked into my compound. David was a really close friend of mine.
After the both of us met when I gave birth, he even wanted to be the father of my child, but I turned down the offer since I was not interested at that moment.
I didn't want to be in any relationship with him; I just wanted to maintain the relationship that we had with each other. I walked into my house while I got welcomed with a very soft, warm hug from my daughter.
Furthermore, I squatted down to her level while kissing her on the cheeks. I love her so much, and I would do anything for her. "How was it?" Raven interrupted the mother-daughter moment that the both of us were having that moment.
*****,
I was on the bed, while I tossed around the bed trying to sleep, but I couldn't sleep. I came down from the bed, and then went to the balcony to watch the stars, and reminisce about the old memories.
Furthermore, I remembered what happened in the past between Charles, and me.
I thought my relationship with Charles was a disaster from the start. My relationship started with a contract marriage, without my knowing about it. My parents were excellent at keeping secrets, even though they were not meant to be kept.
I still remember the first day Charles came to my house. I was just eighteen years old when I fell in love with him at first sight. Everything about him was the real definition of being perfect.
I remembered how desperate I was, for his attention then.
He discussed it with my parents all afternoon in the study. I was eavesdropping outside the door and only heard the word "share". Charles came out of the room to smoke, smiling at me, who was eavesdropping outside the door. At this time, my parents said to me, "This is the heir of the Evans industry and your future husband." I never felt a surge of happiness.
I was so happy that I was going to get married to a man as perfect as that. It was shocking to me, and at the same time, I loved him so much.
After that, Charles often came to my house to discuss the shares with my parents, even though I didn't get to know what they were talking about.
After my parents died a year later in a plane crash, I found a contract while sorting through their belongings. Only then did I get to discover that my parents gave Charles their shares in Evans Industries at the cost of her marriage. Although I was sad about losing her parents, she still looks forward to her marriage to Charles.
We were in love already, and the contract was not important anymore.
I sold my mom's company after everything that happened between us. I didn't want to have anything that related to both of us together.
I felt like sleeping, while I went back into my room, so I could get to sleep, and prepare for tomorrow.
******
I went to Wilson's; That was where I was working for now. I was a great asset to the company. Furthermore, I came up with some of the ideas for that company.
David was the CEO, while I was the manager. We work hand in hand with each other most of the time. I walked into my office while being welcomed by my personal assistant.
"You would be meeting with the CEO of Evan's group today." She informed me while I opened my eyes in surprise.
"Isn't that supposed to be David's work?" I wondered why I would be the one assigned to attend to Charles.
"It happened that you were the one meeting with him. David said, I should make you do it." She answered. I rubbed my head in frustration.
Why does it have to happen now, of all times? What is David up to?
After a while, I walked out of my office, only to see my daughter and Charles together. It turned out that he was having coffee. When did he get here?
"Rose!" I called out to my daughter while I hurriedly went to where s
he was.
"Take her away from here." I instructed my personal assistant.
Chapter Four.Charles POV.I got to the company in no time. I would be meeting with them today so we could get to discuss the shares and all. After what happened last night, I was really interested in getting into the company.I also have to figure out that David, and Erika have been high school friends, and they both happened to start working together at this company. I also heard that she was the manager, which was quite shocking to me.The receptionist who was there told me the way to the manager's office. "I should have just let my personal assistant follow me." I muttered under my breath immediately when I got to the hallway, and I was finding it hard to locate where her office was. I looked around, and then saw a little girl that was sitting on the chair with her playing the Rubik's Cube. She was really finding it hard to do. I walked up to her level, and squatted up to her level."It is very easy to solve." I interrupted her, while she looked up at me. "Easy? It is pretty hard
Chapter Five.Erika's POV."Don't ever tell me to meet with him again. I really hate seeing him." I dropped the files on David's table while I almost walked out of him."I feel like you two can still come back together. If Charles really feels bad for what he did years ago, He looked like someone who is persistent, and wouldn't give up on you." His words made me stopped walking with my hands on the door knob.I got to my office, and I didn't meet my daughter there. I remembered I had told my personal assistant to make sure to keep her safe.Where did she go again? Out of worry, I walked outside, and started searching for her. My greatest fear was her meeting Charles. I didn't want him to start suspecting a lot of things.I didn't want him to start suspecting that Rose might be his daughter. Likewise, I met my personal assistant on my way to look for my daughter. "Where is Rose? Have you seen her? Do you have any idea of where she might be?" I was panicking at this point, and that was
Chapter Six.Charles's POV*THE NEXT MORNING*I looked at myself in the mirror, while I remembered all that happened yesterday, even though I was hungover at this point. I remembered how I went to the club because I was really heartbroken.*FLASHBACKS*"You should move on from her! It has been five years already; there are a lot of girls out there, and it is so obvious that she doesn't care about you. Do you expect her to go back to you after what you did to her? No reasonable human would do that." Bruce told me while I took another shot of the tequila that the barman had prepared."Yes Bruh! You have to move on. You have to move on. There are a lot of ladies that want you so bad, but you have been snubbing them so hard for the last few years." Tony added. To be honest, I didn't care about what they were saying.I wouldn't change my mind that easily, no matter what. I would prefer to remain single forever than for me to get married to someone else apart from Erika.Furthermore, I spot
Chapter SevenErika's POV.I reached the front of the restaurant, and saw a missed call. It was from the company. I had to call back."This is very urgent, and you are needed. We will be meeting at Luke's company. The meeting was an impromptu one. I am sorry if this got to ruin your plan." David informed me over the phone immediately I called him back.I had to call Raven, and see if she was less busy. "Hello? I have an urgent meeting. Are you less busy? Can you help me watch over my daughter?" I questioned her while she sighed."I am so sorry. I am currently in a shoot, and I will not be able to do it." She apologized to me, while I ended the call. I knew she was the busy type. I was wondering who I was going to drop Rose with.If I were to take her to Luke's company. Things might not get to go well. I looked at my back, and I saw that Charles was still inside the restaurant. His eyes were fixed on us, and he caught me staring at him. That was the only option that I had left. He shru
Chapter EightErika's POVI looked at my friend who was buying some coffee at the restaurant. These people looked so heartless, and I was so scared that they might get to do something to do which I didn't like."So are you going to do it or not?" He called me as that brought me back to reality."I will do it." I started without battling my eyes. There was no way that I would want to see my friend in danger. This was the only thing that I could get to do to save her."We will give you time to get prepared." He told me, while they all walked out of the room..***Later In The Night.I was so hungry, that I haven't eaten anything. My stomach hurts, and the cold was a little bit too much for me. It looked as if I was going to die. I hated this side of me for real. Why does this have to happen to me? Are they even struggling to look for me right now? I bet they must be doing everything in their power to look for me, but there was no way that they were going to see me easily, since this pla
Chapter NineErika's POV.He really looked so serious when he said that he was going to make me his in the end. I guess it would be so fun for me to torment him knowing fully well that I wasn't going to end up with him in the end."Why are you laughing? Is there anything funny in what I just said." He queried me while I let out a huge sigh. "It looked like you are really determined to do it, and that is so cool of you. Let's see when you will give up." I would never allow that to happen while I was still here. I lost my feelings for him, and there was no way that I would end up falling for him again. Furthermore, I did say anything for a while; our eyes bore into each other for a few seconds.I was the first person to break eye contact, just like we did in the past. "You are still bad at keeping eye contact." He laughed so hard at me, and then I laughed also, since we all want to be crazy. He then let go of my wrists while I went to drop the plate right in the kitchenI went back to
Chapter Ten.Charles's POV."Yes, yes, yes!" I squealed in excitement after the news that David just told me. I called Linda, who was outside the office, and she came to me in no time"I need you to do something for me." I told her immediately, and she walked into my office. "What is it?" She questioned me with a smile on her face. I bet she must have seen how happy I was. "I need you to bring me a desk to the office right opposite mine. The lady from Wilson's company will be transferred to ours in no time." I instructed her. "Is that all?" She questioned me while I looked around."Yeah, that's all. There is nothing to discuss anymore." I told her, and she then walked out of the room right away. I talked with David few weeks ago to ask if it was possible for him to talk with her so that I would keep on seeing her, but I didn't know that it was going to be that fast.Furthermore, I wondered what kind of technique that he used, he must be excellent. Did he even have to stress himself o
Chapter Eleven.*Few Days Later*Erika's POV.It had been great for me so far, and it was so funny seeing someone who was trying too hard to gain my attention when I didn't even give a fuck about him. He was willing to do anything for me, but he needed to realize that I don't care about him. There was something that would be happening next week. It was the company's anniversary, and everyone has been preparing for that day. It really looked like a huge day for the company.I was among those who will be planning, and we will also be introducing some of our projects to the people who were there. I knocked on the door leading to Tristan's office.Furthermore, I opened the door immediately, and he knocked. It was then that I saw his mother, who was sitting right there. I haven't seen her since what happened to me a few years ago.I bowed my head. "I think you are really busy." I wanted to walk out of the room, but I was interrupted by her voice."Where do you think you are going to? Do yo
