Who is the father?

Chapter Four.

Charles POV.

I got to the company in no time. I would be meeting with them today so we could get to discuss the shares and all. After what happened last night, I was really interested in getting into the company.

I also have to figure out that David, and Erika have been high school friends, and they both happened to start working together at this company. I also heard that she was the manager, which was quite shocking to me.

The receptionist who was there told me the way to the manager's office. "I should have just let my personal assistant follow me." I muttered under my breath immediately when I got to the hallway, and I was finding it hard to locate where her office was.

I looked around, and then saw a little girl that was sitting on the chair with her playing the Rubik's Cube. She was really finding it hard to do. I walked up to her level, and squatted up to her level.

"It is very easy to solve." I interrupted her, while she looked up at me. "Easy? It is pretty hard. Even my mom finds it hard to solve at times." She complained while I chuckled slightly.

It made me remember Erika. Erika doesn't like the Rubik's Cube at all. She hated it with a passion.

"Your mom is really a funny one. Let me show you my skills." I asked her, while I stretched out my hand for her to give me the cube. She gave me the cube, and I started helping her with it.

It wasn't long before I was done solving. "Woah! Can you teach me how to do it? It looked so easy for you." She requested

"That is if we both get to meet frequently, which I think is not possible. What is your name?" I questioned her. She looked so beautiful, and her eyes reminded me of those of my mom.

"I am Rose." She answered me.

"I am Charles." I also introduced myself to her. "Why are you here? Are you going to meet my mom?" She questioned me, while I squinted my eyes. "Who is your mom?" I hope it wasn't what I was thinking.

"My mom is the Manager of this company, and that is her office." Rose pointed at the office that was at the end of the hallway. "Woah. I didn't know know know she had a daughter." I muttered.

"Let me get you something to drink while you wait for my mom." She came down from the chair she was sitting on, and then ran out of my sight. I waited for a while so she could arrive. She came back with a disposable cup right in her hand.

"I made a coffee for you." She stretched her hand with the coffee in the cup. I collected it from her and gulped it all down.

"You are really skilled at making this! Who taught you?" It tasted just like Erika. I bet the two must have bonded a lot, and they have a very close relationship.

"What are you doing here? What are you two talking about? I told you to watch over my daughter. She isn't supposed to be with him." I heard that familiar voice right at my side, while I stood up from the chair I was sitting on immediately.

"Take her inside right now." Erika instructed her personal assistant, who was right at her back. I watched as Rose walked into her office with her personal assistant.

"Is that really your daughter right there?" I questioned her out of curiosity, while she scoffed. "Yes! She is my daughter. Do you have any problems with it?" She questioned me.

Wait! She gave birth in five years. That was so quick of her.

"Woah! What is her age, if I may ask?" I questioned her while she looked at me, and then she burst out into laughter. There is nothing funny in what I just asked her. I just need an honest answer.

"We are here to discuss business. Personal matters shouldn't be brought into a meeting like this." She corrected. "Follow me." She instructed me while I walked right at her back.

She really became fiercer and, stronger in a very big room. It looked like a conference room. "We called for this meeting to see if we would be able to get to partner with each other." She started the conversation immediately, and we both sat down.

I don't think I have ever seen her smile so genuinely, ever since yesterday. The only time her smile was genuine was when David came, and touched her right on the shoulder.

If I told her the reason why I broke up with her that night, was she going to listen to what I wanted to say to her? Would she be able to come back to me? Will we still be able to live a happy life? What would her reaction be if she found out that I was going to die in a few months?

"So, have you made your decision? Are you going to partner with our company?" She questioned me.

"Yes! It is going to increase my company's sales. This company has a lot of vision, and I bet my company would also be a benefit to us. It is a win-win situation." I answered her with my hands placed on the table.

"I asked them to prepare the documents, and you should go through the terms, and conditions. Look at it if there is anything that needs to be corrected." I told her while I passed the file to her.

I watched her as she went through it. Erika was now a different person. She wasn't the goofy type anymore. I really changed her, and it is really affecting me now.

She took the pen that was on the table, and wrote down the amount of shares that her company was willingly to invest. She then signed the documents and returned some of the copies to me.

"Don't you want to know the reason why I did that to you a few years ago?" I didn't know when that came out of my mouth.

How the heck was I supposed to concentrate when she was the only one on my mind? I really wanted to know. "I remembered how much I would hit my chest, and I kept on asking for the reason why you did that. Furthermore, I am not interested in knowing the reason anymore." She fired back at me.

We both stood up at the same time, and stood in front of each other. "I hope you don't get to bring up something personal like this at the office anymore. Thank you for accepting us." She brought out a hand for a shake, while I didn't refuse it.

She walked out of me afterward. I took in a deep sigh after everything that just happened. I left the room wanting to leave the office, but not until I bumped into Rose.

"Sir!" She shouted immediately; she saw me from afar. I looked around, but there was no trace of her mom, or her mom's personal assistant.

"Does your mom know that you are out here?" I questioned her.

"No! It seems like you know my mom. Don't let her know about it. It also seems like she doesn't like you." She informed me. I was not expecting her mom to like me for any reason.

"If I may ask, who is your father? You must really take after him." I questioned her. She itched her head while I waited for her to say something.

I wondered what her mom mu

st have told her. I wondered if she was just my daughter or someone else's.
