Chapter Twenty Three: Halo

Nathaniel was already waiting outside the door by the time Minah reached her unit. He was settling on the floor, his back leaning against the wall. Sitting on his lap was the coat she handed to him a while back. He turned his head once he heard her shoes tapping, indicating that she had finally arrived. He stood straight right off as soon as he saw her.

She got one loyal man right here, she smirked. She had no idea how long he had been waiting for her there.

Nathaniel was the total opposite of Night. The latter’s presence was never felt enough, let alone receiving a single moral support from him.

Minah's face turned sour when Night's scruffy look crossed her mind. That freaking gangster she saw in Kusu Island - it's been years since their last encounter. The last time she saw him was the time he shoved a sandwich into her mouth, what a jerk.
