He was finally asleep. I closed the picture book that we’ve been reading endlessly for absolutely no explainable reason. I dropped it and closed the music box playing and carried the infant to his crib.

I didn’t think babies grew so fast, but witnessing it, there were many myths I cleared about babies. They were quick learners with an obsession with sounds, colours and staring, and they all had their own personalities.

Babies also have this gentle scent that was addictive and unexplainable, but whatever that scent is, they appeared loveable even though Leslie’s son, at three months, knew had to pester for my attention.

“Don’t wake up at two.” I warned him after placing him in his crib.

I had to wait an hour or two after he slept or he would jolt up and refuse to sleep in the crib.

“You’re spoiling him too much.”

I turned my back to Leslie, standing at the door with a nightgown on. He approached me and hugged me.

I placed my hand on his hip, jerked him closer and perked his lips
