Apollo followed after her and got out of the car. He complained, “Abel, I think there’s something wrong with Vincent. Tonight, he kept on toasting Ruth! And he seemed to be quite aware of Ruth’s tolerance for alcohol, so he had no difficulty getting her drunk!”

Ruth waved her hand in dismissal. “What bad intentions could Vincent have? He was just afraid that I'd beat him up.”

Abel did not comment.

“Honey, please carry me back. I can’t walk much more.”

Abel remained silent.

He then carried Ruth back into the house, set her down on the couch, and got up to make her honey water.
