Derinem frowned at the puppy eyes staring up at him and asking for a gun. A gun! To kill his teacher, did he somehow smash his head against the rail he jumped down from and was seeing things?

No, he doubted that. This little dude seemed real enough; he squatted down to his level so he was face-to-face with him.

The mission had to wait. All his attention was now on the little psychopath in front of him.

"Why do you want to kill your teacher, Milo?"

He talked, demonstrating with his hands: "You see, mister, Bryan was very mean; he said a lot of mean things...

It didn't bother Derinem that he didn't know who Bryan was, but whoever he was, this kid hated him.

He moved his little hand. "I was on my own, so Momma said, 'don't fight anyone, Milo, so you don't get sick.'"

Derinem suddenly pitied this kid's mother.

"So I, Zayne, and Nico sat on the swing, and Bryan came over and said some mean things." His face showed fury, "and he pushed me, and Zayne and Nico had him on his back and..."
