Chapter 57 - Out of time

Wanda POV

The chains rattled every time I moved, the cuffs cutting into my wrists and ankles. A few days after bringing me to the dungeon, they chained both me and David to the wall, keeping us from moving freely around the cells.

“Do you think she’s still alive?”

David’s broken voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I glanced up at him through the bars.

“I don’t know.” I replied. “I’d like to think so. Even if she never comes back here, I would want her to find a nice place to settle down, far away from all this.”

“I don’t know if she’s strong enough.” David whispered. “She’s always been so innocent. I don’t know if she has it in her to fight for us.”

“Have faith, Alpha.” I replied. “We don’t know what’s going on from here. If they had caught her, they would definitely have rubbed it in our faces. Right now, no news is good news, okay?”

David nodded solemnly.

I hated seeing him so broken. He blamed himself for the attack and losing the pack and no matter what I said, he wouldn’t
