They met while being interviewed for positions at The Maze Café, the exclusive café belonging to Labyrinth Publishing House. It had been friendship at first sight. Marc strongly believed they must have been separated at birth. Jenny and Marc were both 23, both majoring in English writing and minoring in English literature.               “So….” Marc had just waiting a table and Jenny was taking a long gulp of much needed water. The morning had been hectic with people bustling in and out. Jenny had relished the distraction. She didn’t want her thoughts raking over Cole Sanders. Besides according to café gossip he was currently dating a model.              “When do you think Mr Sander’s will read your manuscript? I bet he has already and that’s why he’s late down to lunch.” Marc looked like an excited puppy. Chapter 3
By the next morning Jenny was feeling a little silly. She shouldn’t have acted so defensive towards Cole. She spent her shower debating how she would approach him. Her breakfast was spent building up courage and her bus ride was consumed with different scenarios and outcomes.As she entered the publishing house the atmosphere was tense and sombre. Everyone she passed looked at her with a serious expression. Some of the reception staff were sniffing into tissues. She unlocked the front door of the café and stepped inside. Marc was racing around putting things out and trying to get Jasmine to tidying the front counter.Today was Thursday. Thursdays and Fridays were always the busiest days at The Maze, hence Jasmine’s presence. She was slow and cumbersome. Her stocky build and dead straight black hair made her even more unusual and totally out of place. However, she was great at front of house and as much as Marc protested, she could make a mean coffee.

Saturdays were usually half days for the café. It meant it was open at 8am but usually closed by 12pm. It had always been like this and Jenny had never asked the previous manager why. She worked one Saturday out of the month but today she decided to go in before her date with Jeremy. She had packed a bag for an outfit change later on. Jenny was focused on trying to grab the slipping pieces of her beloved café.By 12pm they’d shut the doors and began discussing how best to save the café. Jasmine had some wonderful ideas that included someone of the upcoming book launches. She thought in stead of catering for them why didn’t they make the café into a place where the books could be launched. Jenny loved the idea. They could advertise upcoming books, have new releases on the shelves that just contained old magazines and newspapers.Jenny began writing a proposal.
