CHAPTER ONE : THE BEGINNING OF AN END
“We're waiting.” I heard the guy say it from the other line. I kept mum. “I said we're waiting. We've been waiting for almost three hours now.” I didn't answer. “Don't play with me, little devil.” I bit my lower lip and gazed through the car window. “You have to pay your debt, ” he continued, “8,000,000. ” Silence. “Don't let me count on you, little devil.”

CHAPTER TWO : FRAGMENTS OF PAST
I held the bouquet of blue roses waist high just as my stylist instructed. He walked back and forth just to see if everything’s in its right place. “Perfect!” He smiled and gave me a two thumbs up gesturing his excitement. “That gown graces your body with sophistication that could put a royalty to shame,” he added. Turning to the full body mirror,  I smiled as I saw my reflection in it. Indeed the off-shoulder bridal gown graced my body with sophistication. The myriad of glass beads and crystals lavishly adorned the ecru bodice, matching the pair of luscious diamond earrings that I’m wearing right now. My hair was flecked with tiny glittering diamonds and styled in a loose French twist with a few tendrils. I specifically requested it. The make-up artist was about to

CHAPTER THREE : WHEN EYES MET
“We found her Mr. Smith.” I heard the woman from the other line say. “Do you want me to send her whereabouts?” “No need, I just want to know how she's doing,” I answered. “She's getting married.” “Pardon?” “We just heard that she’s getting married, Mr. Smith,” the woman repeated. “In five months time.” “Oh,” the only word that slips through my mouth. “Is there anything you want us to do Mr. Smith?” &

CHAPTER FOUR : THE UNFORGOTTEN SMILE
I reread the piece of paper containing a list of things I needed to do on the day of my release. I had all my belongings stuffed into my knapsack including some money that I had earned inside the prison. “Excited?” suddenly Fiona asked.  I just smiled at her. Fiona's my inmate and eventually ended up being my best friend. I don't think I can survive the five years of being imprisoned without her. I owed the remaining shreds of my sanity to her. Fiona pats my shoulder gently and said, “I'll be seeing you outside, soon. Don't miss me too much.” I laughed a little and rolled my eyes on her. “I'll be waiting for you then.”

CHAPTER FIVE : THE FORGOTTEN SMILE
“Hey Babe, are you listening?” Chloe asked with annoyance in her tone. “I'm sorry, what were you saying again?” I wasn't really listening to her because my thoughts were somewhere else. “I was asking if you heard that Mikan's getting married?” I sighed then nodded at her. “I received his wedding invitation the other day,” I simply said. Chloe rolled her eyes as she answered, “Seriously? And I didn't get any?” It was clear that she was furious about the idea of not getting an invitation for Mikan's wedding. She was well aware that Mikan doesn't like her. And knowing Mikan

CHAPTER SIX : LONGING
I opened my eyes to a screaming alarm at five in the morning. I was so relieved to find myself in a place without bars and without the raunchy smell of urine in the air. I took a full fifteen minutes to freshen up after tidying up the nook which now I considered my room. Waking up inside Nick’s house made me feel like being reborn. In a matter of hours I covered almost every part of the house except the master’s bedroom which was locked. I wonder if Nick is already in his room.   With a little amount of energy to spare, I decided I would use it to launder my soiled shirt and jeans which were among the three sets of clothing I owned, but then a small stain on the kitchen wall caught my eye on my way to the laundry room. I ignored the urge to clean it but a little while later, I went back to scrub it off. Many of my inmates had found this habit of mine odd, nobody knew why but cleaning  be

CHAPTER SEVEN : LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
I woke up as I felt the chill creeping through my skin yet it burned in heat. I’m very much aware that I had a fever. A wet towel was spread over my forehead, I slowly opened my eyes and reached the towel to remove it. Slowly, I straightened up and craned my neck looking for her but suddenly my head felt heavy again, my God, my fever’s still persisting.   I noticed a lone bulb remained lit in the kitchen and the laundry door seemed closed, I guess she was asleep already. I looked at my watch and saw that it was already past midnight. My gaze then drifted back in front of me and saw my car key back on the center table. Inches away were a glass of water, a bottle of Tylenol and a covered bowl of soup.   I reached for the spoon and star
