Chapter 2

Lisa's POV:

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing loudly. Groaning, I rolled to the other side of my bed, my hand falling to the side as I tried picking up my phone from the desk. Another groan left my lips out of anger.

I was never a morning person, even though I am a nurse; it's always hard to wake up early. As I grumbled my way out of bed, I noticed the bright sun shining through my curtains, signaling that it was already late morning. I looked at the time on my phone and realized I had slept through my alarm and was now running late for my flight. Great start to the day.

Shaking my head, I walked toward my bathroom to get ready. Making sure to shave and clean my hair, I looked at myself in the mirror. "You can do this, Lisa; it's just one patient," I whispered to myself. "Yeah, you can do this," I said, giving myself a pat on the shoulders.

With that, I walked out of my bathroom, heading toward my closet. I looked around before grabbing my hoodie and grey joggers. "Thank God I packed up my things yesterday."

I quickly dressed, trying to maintain a sense of composure despite the chaotic start. As I grabbed my packed bag, I mentally ran through the checklist to ensure I didn't forget any essential items.

Rushing downstairs, I grabbed a granola bar for a makeshift breakfast and headed out the door. The urgency of catching my flight fueled my movements as I hailed a cab. During the ride, I couldn't help but replay the day's shaky beginning in my mind.

Arriving at the airport, I navigated through security and made a sprint for the boarding gate. Somehow, I managed to make it just in time, breathless but relieved. As I settled into my seat on the plane, I couldn't shake the feeling that the day had already thrown its fair share of challenges my way.

Little did I know, this unexpected start was just the beginning of an unpredictable journey ahead.

During the flight, I took a deep breath and tried to shake off the morning's turbulence. As the plane ascended, my thoughts turned to the upcoming nursing assignment. I flipped through my notes and mentally rehearsed the details of my new patient's case.

Upon landing, I navigated the bustling airport and hailed another cab to take me to the house. The city's vibrant energy clashed with my fatigue, but I couldn't afford to let it slow me down.

The drive to the house was long, and I was getting hungry. When we arrived, I paid for the ride before grabbing my things. My mouth dropped open at the sight of the house. No mansion, it's a freaking mansion. I looked back at the address my boss gave to me. I questioned myself if I was ready to go in.

"There's no turning back now," I said softly before grabbing my bags from the ground. The imposing mansion loomed before me, and I took a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever awaited inside. As I approached the grand entrance, the uncertainty of the upcoming encounter mixed with a sense of anticipation.

My finger rose to the gate, ready to knock, when I heard a voice say, "Welcome Miss Lisa, thank you for coming here today; you may now enter." The gate opened slowly on its own. "Wow," I whispered as I walked slowly into the mansion. It looked like a mansion described in a book. Everything screamed royalty.

"Now I see why my boss said this man is a private man," I whispered before stopping at the door entrance. The opulence of the surroundings left me momentarily awestruck. Taking a deep breath, I approached the door, uncertain of the challenges that awaited me within the luxurious confines of the mysterious mansion. Little did I know, this encounter would not only test my nursing abilities but also unravel a tale of intrigue and complexity.

"Welcome Lisa, it's so nice having you here." Lisa heard someone say.

Turning around she saw a woman her age walking down the stairs.

A smile on her lips.

"My name is Evelyn, Ace's sister." The lady said with a soft smile.

"Nice to meet you," I said, having no idea what to say again.

A giggle left Evelyn's lips as she noticed the confusion on Lisa's face.

"Come on, I'll show you your room, tomorrow you can see my brother," Evelyn said.

Nodding my head, I picked up my bags and followed her slowly.

My eyes still looking around the room.

Everything looked so beautiful and unique.

The house felt warm and welcoming as Lisa followed Evelyn to her room. The anticipation of meeting Ace added a hint of excitement to the air.

Evelyn led Lisa through a hallway adorned with family photos and cozy decorations.

As they reached the room, Evelyn opened the door, revealing a comfortable space with soft colors and a view of the garden. "I hope you find it cozy. Make yourself at home," Evelyn said with a friendly grin.

I thanked her, feeling a sense of gratitude for the warm reception. As I  unpacked, I  looked around the room carefully.

A smile on my lips.

Maybe this won't be bad after all, maybe things will go well.

I thought, having hope about what would happen next.

After unpacking, I walked toward my new bathroom.

Everything looked so nice and beautiful.

After looking around, I walked out to my bedroom.

A sigh left my lips before looking up at the clock.

It was still early and I was really hungry.

I looked at the door, thinking if it was alright for me to walk downstairs.

After some thinking, I walked toward my door and then turned the handle slowly.

When that was done, I looked at the large hallway, wondering where to move next.

Without thinking, I walked toward the left side of the Hall.

Keeping my ears down, I tried to pick up any sound.

The mansion was so quiet like I was the only one here.

After walking for what felt like hours.

I was a door, it was open slightly

Intrigued, I approached the slightly open door, curiosity getting the better of me. Slowly pushing it open, I found a man on a bed, the hospital machine beeping slowly.

His chest rose up and down slowly.

"I see you found Ace." I heard a voice say behind me, making me squeal.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to move around like this, I got hungry and was looking for you, I didn't mean to come here," I said quietly looking at the ground.

Evelyn laughed quietly before shaking her head.

"It's all good love, now let's go meet my brother, yes?" She said walking into the room.

I nodded my head before following her closely.
