CHAPTER 1

"That... can't be true," I say, staggering, but luckily my father holds me up.

"My wolf Matt has told me," he says worriedly.

The Kollow Moon pack would disrupt the peace, as they are dark and evil.

"No, Dad, that can't be," I say distressed.

"I hope not, sweetheart," he says in a worried tone, running his hand through his hair.

I enter the house, which is spacious with ten rooms, including bathrooms. The walls are cream-colored white, and the furniture is black. The kitchen is made of marble. I go upstairs and enter my room. The walls are pale pink, and my bed is white with pink. I have a white desk and pink armchairs. I know it may look childish, but those are my favorite colors.

"Jenny, does the Kollow Moon pack exist?" I ask, worried.

"I don't know, Jane. Their auras say they are so powerful that I can't communicate with them," she says apologetically.

"Alright," I say dejectedly.

"Jane," she says in a not-very comforting tone.

"What's wrong, Jenny?"

"Today in the forest, I thought I felt our mate, but his aura... it was scary; I had never felt an aura like that before," Jenny says worried and fearful.

"It's best if we stay away from that aura."

"I think so," she says sadly.

We cut the connection, and I let out a sigh.

"Do you want to go for a drink?" Jake says through the connection.

"In a moment, I'm ready," I say a bit dejectedly.

"I'll be there in fifteen minutes, cheer up," he says cheerfully.

I smile and get up. I go to my closet and decide to wear a black dress that fits me perfectly. It's like a second skin, slightly above my knees, with a lace sweetheart neckline and an open back. I put on my black heels, leave my hair loose, put on some makeup, and calmly walk down the stairs.

"Wow, you look amazing," Jake says, eyes wide open.

"Don't be so exaggerated, Jake," I say reproachfully. He raises his hands in surrender, and I let out a short laugh.

Jake is very handsome, with blond hair, beautiful and mesmerizing blue eyes, and a peculiar bronzed skin tone.

"Let's have fun," Jake gives me a mischievous smile.

"Let's go," I say, smiling.

We arrive at a private pub and start drinking rum.

"How are things with your mate?"

"I haven't found her," he says nonchalantly.

"You'll find her," I say, taking my second round.

"I'm not interested in that right now," he shrugs.

I roll my eyes and shake my head; Jake has wanted to go out with me for months, but I don't feel anything for him other than friendship. However, I might consider going out with him.

"Do you want to dance?" he asks in a seductive tone.

"Sure," I respond in a flirtatious tone.

He extends his hand, and I intertwine it with mine. We walk to the dance floor and let ourselves be carried away by the music. He puts his hands on my hips, and I place mine on his shoulders.

"I could get used to this," he says playfully.

"Jake," I warn.

He smiles radiantly and gradually approaches me. I immediately tense up.

"Relax," he whispers.

Then his lips come closer to mine, and he kisses me softly. I close my eyes and let myself be carried away by his warm kiss. His lips are tempting, moving slowly with mine, but at the same time, it becomes passionate and fierce... I like it.

I pull away from him, and Jake looks at me with a smile.

"Do you want to go to the forest like in the old times?" I say, embarrassed.

"I would love to," he murmurs with a wide smile.

I nod, and we leave the pub. I'm not too drunk; I have a high alcohol tolerance. We drive home and walk hand in hand to the forest.

"So, are you going out with me?" he asks, smiling.

"Maybe," I say with a smile.

He stops me right in front of the lake and slowly leans in to kiss me again, and we kiss passionately. His lips follow the rhythm of mine, and his tongue explores my mouth sensually.

Suddenly, we hear a loud growl.

"Mate!" my wolf shouts.

Oh no... damn it, it can't be true. Jake and I turn to see where that growl came from, and there's a wolf three times bigger than us.

"Transform," I whisper.

We transform and start growling.

"Back off, this is our territory," I say in an alpha tone.

However, I don't think it will make much of a difference. He must be from the legendary pack, and fear takes hold of me at the thought. My wolf has been jumping with joy at finding her mate, but I refuse to believe it. He is a black wolf with gold eyes and brown pupils.

"I won't leave without my mate," his voice is deep, also speaking in an alpha tone.

"What?" Jake says. I turn to look at him, and he looks at me sadly.

"Come with me," he says, stepping into the moonlight.

"No," I say firmly.

Jake lunges at the wolf, but I quickly pull him off.

"No!" I scream, distressed.

"Then come with me."

That wolf's aura gave me chills; it was so powerful. It's hard for me to grasp it because I'm supposed to be the alpha of alphas, and now it turns out that the legendary pack does exist. The wolf looks at me with evident fury for having kissed someone else.

"Come, we have to go," he points to the deep forest with his snout.

I turn and see Jake still unconscious from the blow.

I walk towards the wolf because I don't want him to hurt Jake anymore.

Nothing would be the same as before, of that I was sure.

"Jane, we found our mate!"

"You're crazy! He's from the Kollow Moon pack."

"Maybe he's not bad."

"Yeah, right."

I cut off the connection with my wolf and walk through the forest. I had never walked this side before; it always gave me chills.

"We're almost there," the wolf tells me through the connection.

"What's your name?" I ask softly.

"I'm Alex Clane," he says curtly.

I say nothing more out of fear. I feel like a damn flea next to this wolf; my father must be worried. WHY IS THIS DAMN TROLL MY MATE?! I say angrily in my mind. Of all the wolves in the world, I have to be mated to him. I would have preferred a little wolf as my mate.

"We've arrived, transform," the wolf says sternly.

I obey and turn into my human form. We are standing in front of a black castle; at first sight, it looks gloomy. The alpha wolf transforms, and I bite my tongue to keep my jaw from dropping. He is the most handsome man I have ever seen in my life! And let me tell you, I've seen very handsome men, but he surpasses all limits. His skin is pale, with honey-colored eyes. His hair is reddish, with blond highlights, and his lips are thick, red, just like mine.

He takes my hand, and instantly I feel an electric shock. He leads me to the entrance of the castle, where two giant men stand.

"It's forbidden to bring other people," one of them says, annoyed.

"She's your Luna, you idiot," Alex says, annoyed.

"I... I'm sorry, Alpha," the man apologizes.

They open the doors for us, and we enter immediately. The walls are gray, and everything looks medieval: wooden chairs and a stone kitchen.

"I will take you to our room."

And for the first time, his eyes fixed on me. He looks at me with astonishment and sweetness at the same time, which seems strange because his aura is cold and filled with darkness.

We climb the stairs and reach a room separate from the others. He makes me enter, and there's a double bed, with brown walls and matching furniture, along with a television.

He closes the door, and I swallow slowly.

"I want to go home," I say, trying to sound confident.

"This is your home now," he approaches me slowly, and I instinctively step back.

"I don't want to have a mate," I whisper.

"Oh, baby... I won't let you go ever," he says in his rough and sensual voice.

"I, Jane Clas, reject you, Alex Clane, as my mate and future alpha of my pack," I don't know where I found the strength to say those words, but Alex doesn't flinch or look surprised. He smiles maliciously and bursts into laughter.

"I, Alex Clane, accept Jane Clas's rejection as my mate and future alpha of her pack."

I expected to feel unbearable pain piercing through my body and heart, but it didn't happen.

"What?" I say, confused.

"You can't reject me, darling," he says with a triumphant smile.

"What? How can't I?" I say, upset.

"No, Jane, you can't reject the wolf of legend," Jenny says, apologetically.

"Damn it," I say irritated.

"Maybe it's not so bad, Jane. He loves us."

I cut off the connection as I see Alex positioning himself in front of me. He pushes me roughly against the wall, and I flinch, surprised.

"You're mine! You can't kiss anyone but me!" he shouts in an alpha tone, making my whole body tingle.

"I didn't know I had a mate!" I say, also in an alpha tone.

Then, he roughly presses his lips against mine. His lips are warm and fit perfectly with mine. I feel a pleasant sensation, butterflies in my stomach, and a multitude of emotions.
