CHAPTER 8
Everyone in school knew that Melisa, the school most popular girl was once friends with Kira. I did not know what happened between them but in high school, they could not stand one another’s sight. I decided to make Melisa my girlfriend so that I would try pushing back my feelings for Kira. I stood and watched as my girlfriend and friends bullied and humiliated her. One week later on a weekend, I was woken by continuous ringing of the front door. I did not expect anyone and I had given my nanny some time off. I drunk myself to sleep that day and woke up later in the evening. I would tell my parents about Melisa’s pregnancy when we were sure it was mine. I looked around my room and saw all the bags I had packed for college disappointedly. I was disappointed in myself for being reckless and not being able to go to college. I would let them stay packed till we went to the doctors which would be soon. I went around the house lazily wondering what I was going to do with my life. I reached the kitchen and opened the fridge. I knew that my nanny had been here sometime in the day when I was asleep.Whenever she was here, she always cooked some food and left it for me in the fridge. We entered a room with a bed and some screens which I didn’t know what they were used for. The nurse who had led us to the room told Melisa to lay on the bed and wait for the doctor to come. After a few minutes a middle aged lady walked in and introduced herself as Doctor Adrian. She told us the she was going to be Melisa’s doctor all through her pregnancy. She checked the board she was holding then looked at us. I looked at her with brows raised wondering what she was thinking. She then asked us whether we really need a paternity test done.I was about to ask her whether it was a problem when she explained that the tests should not be done in early stages of pregnancy since it could harm the baby. After playing some video games, Derek suggested that we should go out to a party before all hell broke loose. I agreed with him on that. I had to have fun before the results came out determining whether I was going to be a father or not. I lend him some of my clothes so that he would not waste time going back to his house to get changed. I told him to use one of the guest rooms to get ready.
