The wind blew the blinds on the open windows. The breeze was cool and immediately hit Mira's face who was sitting on her bed with a blank stare at the cotton tree outside, where two birds were making nests—picking up small branches and arranging them on one of the tree's branches. Apparently, the two birds are a couple, who are building a house for their future children.
The birds then reminded Mira of her relationship with her husband. Which over the years has cooled and cannot be called fine. They too used to be like the bird, building their harmonious home for their dear son; Reeves. However, all of that was broken like a storm and rain which one day would also hit the bird's nest on the cotton tree, the presence of an illegitimate child, who Mira never suspected existed.
As a result of all that, she became like this. Spent the rest of her meaningless life on a lonely bed. Her husband is somewhere, she doesn't care.
But her son ... Mira missed him. She
"Are you okay?" Reeves asked the woman beside him who had been silent for a while with a sad face, occasionally glancing at the wounds on Reeves' body.Reeves chuckled. "You have to look at yourself. You're hurt too, Vida. Don't worry too much about me. I'm fine."Vida immediately looked away and rubbed the corners of her eyes. Her whole body was screaming in pain, but the injuries to Reeves' body were so much worse that the pain Vida was suffering seemed to be nothing.“Take it easy. Soon the doctor will come to examine us again.”Vida laid her body tensely on the hospital bed which felt very uncomfortable. Shw just wanted to get out of here immediately and dispel all thoughts of the accident earlier. They were finally placed in a VIP room together at Roy Wijaya's request after some time. He just wanted his men to be able to keep an eye on them without being split into two rooms like before.Meanwhile, even though their injuries
“Hi.”When the man approached her, Angel looked at her in confusion. That man shouldn't be here. With an all-black suit, slicked-back hair and an incredibly elegant look, he should be out there with those classy guests. However, lost or somehow, the man was able to find his way here. In the back room near the barn where Angel packed flowerpots and various kinds of plants, as well as several sacks filled with soil with her employees to be loaded into their pick-up truck.“Are you lost?” Angel asked quietly, and then brushed the dirt off her shirt. She lifted some of the fertilizer earlier and it hit her clothes. Her appearance must have been very smelly and messy, but the man didn't seem to care. He flashed an unbelievably sweet smile.“I purposely went to the back, to find out who was behind the beautiful plants that made an open garden party for my company a success."His company? Okay, so this guy is the owner
Their wedding was extraordinarily luxurious and very beautiful; unfortunately, Dave's mother could not attend because he said his mother was seeking treatment abroad. The sudden condition of their marriage made Dave's mother unable to rearrange her schedule. However, Dave said that his mother sent greetings and as soon as she returned from overseas, she would visit the two of them with a wedding present. They entered the bridal chamber that had been lavishly decorated by a well-known decorator; of course, the flowers were supplied by Angel's greenhouse. Some are donations from her best friend Jim who is very happy with Angel's wedding.Jim is indeed her close friend, who always helps her whenever he can. Many thought they were close, but only Angel and Jim knew that they couldn't be more than that. Jim was gay and he wasn't attracted to women.Angel still kept the secret to herself, she hadn't told Dave yet. At first, she was still hesitant because Jim himself m
“How was your first night?” Jim immediately asked teasingly when Angel picked up the phone. Angel smiled gently. “We haven't done anything on the first night,” she whispered. She was always honest with Jim in everything and the fact that Jim was gay made her feel even more comfortable around him. “What?” Jim's voice on the other end sounded surprised. “You guys haven't done the first night yet?” Despite being on the other end of the phone, Angel smiled sheepishly. “We're too tired. Yesterday, even until ten o'clock at night, there were still guests arriving.” “God,” Jim laughed. “That's the risk of marrying a big boss!” he said jokingly. “Don't worry; everything will be redeemed during your honeymoon.” Looks like there will be no honeymoon, Angel thought to herself, suddenly feeling doubtful. “Angel?” Jim asked on the other end, as if he was asking something. However, because she was busy with her thoughts, An
In the end, Angel couldn't help but visit Jim. She stood in her house that was also their office hesitantly. Jim's own house is right next to Angel's, so the man often goes back and forth between the office and his house, where he lives with his mother and two younger sisters.Jim and Angel's relationship is very close, more than friends, like brother and sister. Jim's family also loved her very much. When her mother died, Jim's family automatically adopted her as an unofficial adopted child.Jim's mother always expected more from Angel's relationship with Jim, knowing that she did not know the identity that Jim was hiding as a gay person. She repeatedly mentioned how nice it would be to have a daughter-in-law like Angel. However, later when Angel planned her wedding with Dave, she finally accepted the fact that they were not meant to be more than friends did. Even then, it was Jim's mother who was eager to help with Angel's wedding preparations, making Angel to
Angel walked after Dave into their bedroom, suddenly afraid of her husband. Dave was a complete stranger to her, as if he wasn't himself. Angel doesn't know why, but she feels uncomfortable with Dave, who is now her husband.“Why are you mad at me, Dave?” Angel ventured to ask, trying to be gentle with her husband. Didn't Dave say that he really liked Angel's tenderness? However, Dave remained cold, completely untouched by Angel's tenderness. He just looked at Angel with disdain. “What husband doesn't get angry when his wife visits another man on the first day after they get married, as if you can't bear to rush into the man's arms?”Angel's face paled at Dave's accusation, but she tried to defend herself. “You're the one who left me to work on the first day of our wedding! I'm confused and don't know what to do. Besides, I wasn't there to see Jim; I wanted to see my greenhouse.”“What an excuse!” Dave
Angel moved to the guest room at the end of the hall, embarrassed, because all the servants seemed shocked by her move. However, Angel took courage, saying that this was her decision as an inviolable hostess. Angel has never been a hostess in her entire life, but it turns out that being Dave's wife has its advantages too in this house, because all the maids and servants were afraid and bowed down to her without daring to refute her.The room was as beautiful as the others in the house were and Angel arranged her few clothes in the enormous wardrobe. After that, she sat hesitantly and waited for Dave to come home.In her heart she wondered, was her decision to follow Dave's orders by moving out of the main room the right one? Or does this just make things worse? Should Angel just stay in the room and force Dave to explain everything to her? However, she couldn't bear to accept his humiliation and rude attitude towards her.Maybe this is the right decision.
“What?” Jim almost screamed on the other end when he heard Angel's whole story being said while holding back her tears. “What's going on in Dave's brain?”Angel took a deep breath. “I just don't know why he's acting like that, Jim. He really has changed, unlike the one we know him to be. He… I'm almost certain that he… hates me.”“Hate you?” Jim sighed softly. Angel could almost imagine the man shaking his head on the other side. “I really can't imagine that he hates you, Angel. His gentle demeanor, his kindness, his loving gaze on you at that time, everything seemed sincere.” Jim's voice turned concerned. “Are you okay, Angel? Should I pick you up?”“No need, Jim!” Angel exclaimed quickly. “At first I thought that Dave was jealous of you, of us.”“That's ridiculous! You should have told him that I—”“Well, he didn't
