5. The Police

Elysia Pov

"Beg!" He shrieked at me. His voice was louder than before. I could feel tears rolling down my cheeks from the corners of my eyes. My whole body was burning for revenge, but I had no power, no means to save myself from this misery and coming chaos. I have to beg for his help, and I need to; It's the only way I can keep myself and then map out a revenge plan.

"Please help me." My lips struggled to mutter words that irritated my heart. Every glance at him and all I can see is his gun edge at Jake and killing him in cold blood.

"That's not good enough."

His brow slanted and his teeth gnashing in extreme anger. His eyes narrowed deeper, darker than usual. His jealousy was obvious. I know how much he wants me, but this isn't what love is, at least not how I'd describe it.

He was obsessed with me, yet he called it love.

"Say it!" He yelled, seeing how I was spacing out.

"Please." I pleaded, and he smiled. His face drew closer to mine. Instantly I clenched my eyes shut, and suddenly, I felt his lips on mine.

He placed them in between mine, forcing my lips to part. His saliva wet my lower lips, and his tongue snaked out and swept my nose.

This wasn't the life I planned for myself, but I was, kneeling in front of a man who calls himself my husband. Like a strayed cat, I remained on my knees, begging for his help that he was yet to give.

His hands raveled my hair, then he hauled it, making me glare at him. When I fixed my gaze on him, all I could see was a dominant man, ready to enslave me; even though I won't accept it, this is what I might become-his enslaved person.

"There are conditions you must adhere to, and I can't possibly trust your mere words and certainly not punish you for cheating on me." He growled. "You must come to the bedroom every night and adhere to whatever I say. To remind you, there is no way I will ever grant you any divorce, so stop trying."

While planning my escape to San Diego, I had sent him the eleventh divorce notice since our wedding, but like others, he declined it and never made it to consultation. This isn't a marriage but a trap.

"You must obey my every command. If you refuse my terms, you can explain yourself to the police."

"There is no way I'm accepting to obey your every rule Damon. We both know that wouldn't end well for me." I could no longer contain the urge to shriek at him.

"Then go out there and face your music. Remember there is CCTV in the hotel. If you think I'd tamper with any, then think twice." He smiled devilishly.

Right, I forgot about the CCTV footage, and by now, I'm confident the police must have used that to come to the house. At the hotel, I'd always give a fake name; sometimes, I walk past like I was lodge earlier.

I have no other option. The only man I could think of that could help me hover this embarrassment was standing right in front of me. The man who this city feared the most was no other than my husband.

"I'm sorry, Damon; I will adhere to all your rules and stick to whatever plan you have. Just help me out with this." I fell to my knees.

"Good girl." He smiled, and then Madeline's knock on the door broke the sudden silence between us.

"I'm coming; give me a minute." I squealed at Madeline.

I rushed to the closet and quickly put on sweatpants and a shirt. Looking like a thief, I ran down the stairs and was instantly greeted by the police.

Their faces looked as though they'd got evidence prepared and ready to pin the whole murder on me. I was innocent, but who would believe me if I came out to say my husband killed the man?

"Good morning Mrs. Contreras. We are sorry for disturbing you, and we just have a few questions for you." One of the officers said to me.

"That's alright. May I know what you are here for?" I asked despite knowing why.

"Do you know Jake Diaz?" The female officer asked with her brows raised. She glared at me as though she had seen me walk inside the hotel.

"No, I don't." I denied.

"Then, can you explain this?" She showed me a video that I patiently watched.

"I'm sorry, that's not me." I denied it bluntly. The officers looked surprised as they watched the video to see if they were wrong.

"Have you seen it? That's not me. I'm sorry, when did this happen?" I asked them in great pretense.

"The man died yesterday. While the CCTV is the one from two nights before." The blonde detective responded in a deep manly tone.

"But we can see clearly that it's you?" The female detective was so pissed. I could see the sudden red glow in her eyes. She was furious, but that would never make me budge from them.

"I'm sorry, but this is evidence, and you certainly are lying to us now. You will have to come with us to the station." The female detective said to me and brought out handcuffs. My eyes drifted towards Damon. He perched on the couch as though he wasn't concerned about what was happening. I couldn't believe this man, and I thought he would help.

His eyes were fixed on the glass of sparkling red wine in his hand. Gently swiftly twirled the mirror as he sipped from it. My heart growled, and a force of rage made me want to slap the glass from his thumps.

But before I could take a step forward, the detective had placed the cuffs on my wrist, making me spin around, and tears dropped from my eyes.

Like a criminal, they walked me out of the mansion, heading towards the cop's car. The female detective looked as though she was incredibly delighted. I don't know this woman, but something about her made me want to figure out who she was.

She placed her hand on my head and pressed down with force. She was bending my head so she could nudge me inside the car. I was unwilling, knowing that the minute I got in jail, that would be the beginning of many questions, and my family certainly would be embarrassed after what Adam had done.
