First Day at work

 06

6:30 am.

The next morning came bright and clear with the sun scorching up in the sky, but it was a little bit cold as well.

Audrey scuttled around in her bedroom, rummaging through her closet for an outfit befitting her first day at work..

She finally settled for her straight creamy below the knee gown which had a thin belt around the waist, and a low neckline that would surely showcase a little bit of her cleavage.

She'd worn it once to a friend's birthday party, and the admiration she got from the outfit inspired her to pull it out from the rack.

She placed it on the bed, turned to look into the mirror, and shook out her hair from the black band, reached for her hair oil, and applied it smoothly on her almost silky brown hair. She brushed it till it shone and dangled effortlessly around her shoulders.

She put on her gown, found matching heels and a shoulder bag in her closet.

Audrey returned to the mirror after she was done dressing and smiled with satisfaction.

"Now, I look like a PA to the Anderson's." She mumbled under her breath. She stood for a few minutes, steadying in her breath.

Soon, she walked out of the room and found her way downstairs. She stopped in front of the door, swung around at the sound of approaching footsteps. Her eyes landed on Ricky who was descending the stairs.

He was still in his pyjamas, his hair was messy, and it framed his face in a way that made Audrey's heart flutter. She swallowed the sudden lump in her throat and looked away.

"Where are you going?" Ricky asked, walking closer.

Audrey glanced back at him, her brows raised. "To work. Obviously. Did you forget?"

Ricky crossed his arms, an amused look on his face. He swept his eyes all over Audrey's body, taking in her outfit. "To work? You didn't even prepare breakfast, Audrey."

Audrey tucked loose strands of hair behind her ear as she turned fully around to look at Ricky. She had a shock expression on her face. The last time she checked, the billionaire heir never bothered about her food.

She would always wake up early to make his breakfast, but Ricky barely touched them.

"Breakfast? This is the first time I'm not making breakfast for you, Ricky, and now, you want it? What of those days when you rejected my food, picked on them and tossed them aside?" Audrey questioned.

"Are you questioning me right now? Do I need to remind you that I'm now your boss?" Ricky asked, coming closer.

"Well, we are at home Ricky. Do you want me to treat you as my boss here too at home?" Audrey questioned.

Ricky stared at her, and all he could see was the image of her getting into that strange man's car. "What's up with you? Are you trying to show me you can do without me? Why are you so bent on getting away from me?" He asked.

Audrey moved back a bit, cleared her throat. "I think I'm getting tired of your rejections, you don't just want me."

"And it took you seven years to realize that?" Ricky murmured, and Audrey shot him an accusing look.

"Don't you think that's a little harsh? You don't have to rub it in." Her voice quivered.

"Don't you think it's too late to try to get away from me? At least, endure one more year. That was our agreement." Ricky suggested.

"I don't want to stay here for another one year. Not with your humiliations and rejections."

Ricky shrugged. "Get ready to pay every penny then. Till then, you're mine, get that? Mine alone. You're not allowed to go to other men."

Audrey bit her lower lip, lowered her gaze. "Can...I go now? I don't want to be late. It's my first day at work."

"Well, it'd be your fault if you are late for work. I want breakfast. Right now." He turned and started back up the stairs.

Audrey glared at him as he walked away, and all she thought of doing was hurling him over the staircase. She dropped her bag on the sofa nearest to her, and marched towards the kitchen.

   **Anderson Group**

Vivienne stood impatiently in front of the elevator, scuttling around the premises. She constantly glanced down at her wristwatch, straining her neck as though trying to catch a glimpse of someone.

Audrey's car finally pulled into the spacious compound amongst other cars, and immediately, Vivienne sighted her. She rushed towards her immediately.

"Miss Christine!" She rasped as soon as Audrey got down from the car. "You're late!"

Audrey smiled apologetically as she reached out to collect her bag. "I'm deeply sorry..."

"Sorry? Well, the boss would never take your sorry if he finds out you're late on your first day at work. Do you know how long I've began waiting to put you through, and take you to your cubicle?"

Audrey's fists clenched. If only this young lady knew who was behind her late coming. "I'm here now. Can we proceed?"

Vivienne raised her head above her shoulders and cleared her throat. "Yes..we can. Come with me." She turned and started walking away perfectly on her red heels.

Audrey followed with an eye roll.

  ******

Her cubicle was located across Ricky's office. It was well decorated in a feminine way, and Audrey couldn't help fall in love with whoever had been there before her.

The walls were white, the the desk and chairs as well. There was an empty photo frame on the desk, and a pen case painted in pink was close to the computer. The telephone, piles of books and documents were at the other end of the desk, and they quickly made Audrey sick.

How would she coup with such a pile of documents? Where was she supposed to start from?

She sat on her new chair, pulled out the top drawer and peered in. There were flash drives, box of chewing gum, aspirin, a dollar note, phone charger and a... letter?

Audrey rummaged through the items, pulled out a piece of paper and unfolded it. Her eyes scanned the content, and her jaw dropped in awe.

It was a love letter written by the previous PA.

Incredible! Audrey scoffed as she read the love confession letter, and slowly, she put it back into the drawer.

Vivienne showed up few minutes later, looking impatient as always. "Miss Christine, the boss is almost here. He's just getting out of his car. What are you going to do once he comes in?"

"Help him with his suitcase, bring him coffee–no sugar, then, give him his schedule for the day." Audrey replied, all the while, trying so hard not to roll her eyes.

Vivienne gave her a thumps up. "Okay. That will do..." She was interrupted with Ricky's entry as the other staff said their greetings. An involuntary gasp escaped her lips as she stared at him.

"My God. Who could be cuter than this?"

Dressed in a black tuxedo pants that hung firmly around his hip and a white shirt that was slightly opened at the collar, Ricky looked like a first class model.

His shoes were shiny black, and his curly hair was brushed to the back this time, making his face more pronounced.

Audrey swallowed hard, and quickly took her eyes to the booting computer in front of her.

No. Audrey. No. She chided herself.

Ricky's eyes found Audrey, and a smirk played across his lips as he looked away.  He got in front of his door, stopped and turned.

At that moment, a woman came into view, and Audrey's lips trembled.

It was Claire Davis.

"How lucky is this woman, huh," Vivienne whispered with pure jealousy, and to Audrey she turned and cried, "Come on, Audrey! It's time to show the boss you can be his PA!"

Audrey nearly smacked Vivienne across the face as she said those words. She tried keeping away from Claire, but it was too late. The blonde woman had already seen her.
