The Jealous fit

Episode 5

6:15pm

Ricky grabbed the second bottle of whiskey off the counter. He staggered slightly from the bar to the spacious living room and sank into one of the three seaters. He unscrewed the cap from the bottle, took it to his lips and gulped down a large quantity of the liquor down his throat.

He wasn't so drunk, but he was far from being sober. Why does the thought of Audrey being with another man so tormenting and infuriating?

The image of her getting into that car, and hugging the driver played in his vision, and he gulped down more liquor.

No. Audrey didn't get him this worked up. He was only stressed with now the day had played, and angry since she was still married to him.

He heard the sounds of keys giggling outside the main entrance, and turned just in time to see Audrey walking into the house. She saw her throw her keys into the bag, turned and latched the door.

"Where have you been?" Ricky threw the question at her as soon as she walked into the living room.

Audrey was slightly startled at the attack. She stopped midday, taking in the scenario before her. She stared at the bottles of whiskey, and her nose twitched at the stench of alcohol. "Are you... drunk?"

Ricky placed the bottle of whiskey on the side stool, and stood up. He swayed slightly, his intense gaze on Audrey. "Tell me. Do I look...drunk?" He asked.

Audrey stared at him speechlessly, and a little bit surprised. She knew Ricky as a decent mam when it comes to alcohol consumption unless when extremely furious.. Why had he gone overboard? "Just... sit."

"No! You won't tell me what to do, okay?" Ricky snapped at her.

"Is this about me coming to the office? Are you so mad at me for trying to work in your company?" Audrey asked.

Ricky glared at her for a while. Without warning, he reached forward, grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into his body. She gasped sharply as her body slammed into his, and she flashed an accusing look into his face.

Before she could protest, Ricky closed his fingers behind her head, and fused his lips with hers.

"What has gotten into you!" Audrey cried after successfully breaking off the suffocating kiss, but she remained in his arms because she knew she couldn't compete with his masculinity.

Ricky lifted her chin with his index finger, romancing her lips with his hot gaze. "You're still married to me, Audrey. Until then, you have no rights to see other men."

Comprehension dawned on Audrey as soon as those words were out. He saw her getting into Xavier's car, and as strange as it may sound, Ricky knew nothing about Xavier.

Her brother was nonexistent to the billionaire heir. "What are you talking about?" Audrey asked, feigning ignorance. If seeing her with another man could make him this furious, what did it mean?

Ricky raised an eyebrow, and tightened his arms around Audrey's waist. "Oh. Nothing. Just... warning you, and letting you know you're mine till you pay off every dime."

Oh. Still about the money. Audrey thought inwardly.

Ricky brushed a soft kiss across her lips, and finally freed her from his grasp. "No late coming will be easily forgiven, Miss Christine. You don't know what it means to be my PA. I hope you will last longer than expected." He turned away from her, grabbed his whiskey off the side stool and made his way towards the stairs.

Audrey stared at him as he climbed, and wrapped her arms around her body. The kiss. The last one. Was that a temptation? Was it a punishment? She closed her eyes, and imagined more of the kiss. She wanted more; needed more intimate touch and caresses.

She placed her palm on her belly, opened her eyes and stared down. "No, Audrey. You're past this. Don't get carried away again. He's teasing you...he wants you to fall again. No way. You have to be sane and perfectly fine for your baby." Audrey mumbled to herself. Just then, her phone began to vibrate in her handbag.

She dipped her hand in, pulled it out and expressed surprised as she saw it was a call from Xavier. He dropped her few minutes ago. Audrey wondered why he was calling. "Xavier?" She mumbled as soon as the line was connected.

There was a deep breath from the other line. "Audrey." Xavier's serious voice called.

Audrey's eyes widened. She couldn't remember the last time he called her Audrey. Whatever it was...must be pretty serious. "Spikes. You are scaring me. Are you okay? How's Diana?"

"It has nothing to do with Diana. It's something I'm supposed to have told you long before now." Xavier replied.

Audrey swallowed hard. "Okay."

"Could you come over to the house after you close from work?"

"Sure." Audrey replied. "Good..." There was a click, indicating the end of the call before she could complete her statement.

Audrey stared at the phone screen, wondering what was wrong with her brother. Whatever it was, she hoped it was something that could be tackled. She left the living room, and headed upstairs to her room.

*******

"You're almost done obsessing over that guy you've locked in your heart for so long, Audrey. I have to take this opportunity and let you know what's going on."

Xavier sat at the balcony, watching the kids from the boys quarters as they chased after each other at the gate. He sipped his soda slowly, and turned to look at his phone. Just like always, he wasn't able to tell her yet again.

But someday, Xavier knew he had to tell Audrey. He had to let her know they were no real siblings. He had to let her know she was adopted when she was still a baby, and that his feelings began to change the very minute he found out. He would stop pretending and let her know.
