The Dream

I woke up upon hearing successive multiple knocks on my bedroom door.

I sat on my bed for a while, adjusting my hazy vision while blinking few times.

I cupped my forehead and slowly massaged it. It was still throbbing with pain.

“Wait up. Coming,” I grunted and wore my silky night robe.

I reached for the door knob and opened it. It revealed my butler holding my favorite breakfast, bacon and egg with rice and a café latte.

“I’m sorry to bother you, my lady, but someone called earlier on the telephone saying it was very important,” he explained, “She says, she needs to talk to you as soon as possible. ”

Maybe, it’s about the company.

“Alright, did you ask for her name?” I replied while I tilted my head sideward, continuing to massage my head lightly.

“Yes, I did. Her name is—you seems to be in pain, my lady. Do you perhaps have headache?” he stopped abruptly and looked at me with full of concern. “Shall I bring you a medicine?”

I nodded looking grateful. “Thank you, Butler Wong,” I replied.

I tousled my hair as I looked for my personal phone.

Today is Friday, and I have class so I also need to call them that I will be absent due to severe headache.

I dialed the office of our department dean’s number and asked permission to be absent today.

It was right on time when my butler arrived as I ended the call.

“My lady, here is your medicine,” he gave me the tablet for my headache and a glass of cold water. “Please eat first before taking it. It will be bad for you to drink your medicine in an empty stomach.”

I ate a mouthful spoons of my breakfast and drank the remaining coffee from my cup.

“Thanks Butler Wong. By the way, who was the caller again?” I asked while taking my meds.

“Her name was Patricia Ambers, my lady,” he replied monotonously.

My right hand holding the glass of water was suspended in the air as I was about to drink.

“What did you say?” I put the glass of water down and crossed my arms.

“Her name was Patricia Ambers,” he repeated.

“What does she want?” I creased my brows as I looked at him.

“She did not further elaborate her concern, but she persisted that she only wants to talk to you and I should deliver the phone to you, my lady. So I thought maybe it was an emergency, and informed you directly,” he explained thoroughly, “She will call again later.”

“Okay, just inform me later if she called again. I need to rest, you may go now,” I said and dismissed him.

“Yes, my lady. You need to rest,” he agreed, “Rest well. I shall take my leave.”

He courteously bowed in reply and excused himself.

I ran my fingers through my hair and slammed my body on the bed.

What does she want now?

I don’t have any slightest idea on what she is planning, but I hope she did not take after her mother.

It reminds me, while we were kids she was really a spoiled brat.

Agh! My head throbbed again. I put a pressure on my forehead as I firmly held it.

Those scenes again kept flashing. Ahh!

“F*ck,” I muttered a curse, while bearing the pain.

It seems like the tablet was taking no effect on my headache.

I’m sweating profusely, even though the whole room was centralized with an air condition.

I felt like the light coming from the fluorescent bulb was burning my eyes, so I turned it off.

I turned on the lamp, instead.

Ghad! This freaking hurts like hell.

Drowsiness, and weariness were taking over me. As the darkness clouded my vision. Later on, I found myself half-asleep as I slowly shut my eyes.

“Should I set fire and annihilate them?” he whispered.

His icy stares met the blue orbs of mine.

Why am I here again?

This scene really, tsk.

“Child, I am waiting,” he moved closer and tucked my hair behind my ear.

“Why do you kept appearing on my subconscious mind?” I asked the guy in front of me.

His crimson eyes looked at me intently, as he smirked coldly. He then, averted his gaze to the other side.

“Hey, why are you not answering me,” I called his attention.

“Shhh.” He placed his index finger on his soft red lips, still not looking at me.

I squinted my eyes and tried to look at what he gazing upon, but it was too dark. I can not see anything.

“Hey, there’s nothing there. Why am I here?” I asked and returned my gaze to his direction, but he was not there anymore.

What the hell. Where am I.

The next scenes became shaky and blurry. My head became dizzy until I passed out.

I woke up in a field of grass, near a tree.

This guy again!

“Who are you? Why did you help me?” my lips involuntarily said.

I immediately covered my mouth.

The young man looked at me, his cold eyes showed a little expression of amusement.

“How unusual, shouldn’t a child be thanking me instead?” he said nonchalantly.

Child? Do I look like a child to him?

I cupped my body, and scanned my hands. I am still a grown up.

“You were the one who is being weird, sire. How did you blew up the place in just a snap of your finger?” My mouth moved on it’s own again.

I could not control my body, anymore. It feels like a scene that kept replaying and replaying over and over again.

“I am not here for you, child. I came for them. You just happened to be here and it is their time,” he said as he stared at the burning building, and I heard from a distance painful screams from that building.

“Grim reaper?” both my mind and mouth asked.

I read stories about them from multiple books in my library.

He shook his head as he whispered to my ear, “Non, I am Doom and I-“
