"My lady! My lady, wake up. You are having nightmares," someone said as that person was slightly tapping the right side of my cheek.
"W-what," I blurted out as I abruptly opened my eyes, catching my breath.
I immediately woke up, gasping.
"You are what?" I continued.
It was a late reaction, and my brain was still in a haze from that weird dream.
"My lady," my butler called my attention, "My lady," he repeated.
"H-huh?" I looked at him, and I can see he is very concerned about my condition.
I clutched my chest, still with heavy breathing.
He gave me a glass of water immediately. I held it with my shaky hands and drank it with one gulp.
I wiped the sweat on my forehead, and shift my gaze on my bedroom clock.
9:45 pm.
"You took a long nap, my lady. It is already nine forty-five in the evening," Butler Wong said.
On my peripheral vision, I noticed that he was holding a telephone.
"About Patricia, my lady. She called again," he lifted his right hand with the telephone. "Do you want to take it now or I will tell her that you were not feeling well, and she can just call tomorrow?"
"No, it's alright. Give it to me." I extended my left arm motioning him to give me the phone.
He immediately handed it to me and excused himself.
I put the phone to my left ear.
"Patricia," I called her name, trying my best to act civil.
"At last! Lily, my sister. I've been calling multiple times, and waited for how many hours," she annoyingly replied, "I've found it hard to reach out to you. Your butler said earlier that you are resting. How are you?"
"What do you want?" I said in a cold tone.
"Is this how you greet your sister?" she replied with fake sobs. I can imagine her sardonic smile at the other end of the line.
Still a brat, I see.
"You are not my sister. I don't have one," I asserted, "Quit the drama, and tell me what do you want. You are wasting my time."
"You don't miss me, my dear sister?" she said in a mocking tone.
Finally, her true colors are showing.
"If you do not have anything important to say, I will hang up then," I responded with my neutral voice, "I'm busy. I have a lot of things to do. Bye."
I was about to put down the phone, when she said, "Wait! Okay, okay. I need your help," she said surrendering.
"You need money," I completed her statement.
"Yes! I knew it, you are really smart, sis," she replied.
"Don't call me that. I am not your sister," I cut her off.
"Fine, but I badly need money can you lend me some?" she shamelessly asked, "As you can see, you are the reason as to why my poor mom is still in the cold cellar. You should take responsibility--"
"For once and for all, I don't have any responsibility in your family, Patricia," I cut her off again. My patience was near its limit.
"How ungrateful of you, we took care of you when your dad died. We treated you like our real family member, and this is how you pay back?!" she exclaimed in disbelief.
The nerve of this girl. My head ached even more after talking to her.
"Are you that shameless? Your mom was the one who ordered for me to be kidnapped, and I was almost killed for the sake of my father's money," I spat angrily, and ended the call.
I put down the phone, as I rested my head on the bed.
"Butler Wong!" I called for him in a loud voice, "Butler Wong!" I repeated.
He knocked on the door twice, then he came in with a tray of a glass of water, a medicine, and a tuna sandwich.
How thoughtful.
"Thank you, Butler Wong. I was about to request a medicine, but you already brought it here." I gratefully thanked him. "Kindly put it on my side table, and tell Alfred that I will be using the car later," I added as I signaled him to put it on the side table.
He then bowed a little to excuse himself and exited towards the door.
I finished the sandwich first before taking the tablet.
I pushed off the tray to the other side of the table and stood up.
I need to take a shower to cool my head off and reduce the pain.
I took off my sleeping robe and my cloudy pink sienna slip nighties that I ordered from Morgan Lane.
After taking a bath, I went inside my walk-in closet and chose a simple outfit.
I wore a white rib singlet top with a black leather jacket paired with blue denim jeans and white sneakers.
I pulled my hair up, tying it into a loose ponytail. I put on a light powder and a lip balm. After I was satisfied with my look, I immediately went downstairs.
"Butler Wong, please prepare a few candles in a small glass, and a cricket lighter," I ordered him, "I need also a bouquet of fresh white lilies," I added.
"Right away, my lady," he responded politely.
"Good, where is Alfred?" I asked.
"He is waiting on the garage," Butler Wong replied.
"Alright, thanks." I walked out of the main door and greeted Alfred with a smile who was waiting outside.
"Good evening, my lady. Do you want me to accompany you?" he asked.
"Good evening too, Alfred," I greeted him, "No need, I will drive myself. Can I have the keys?" I extended my palm in his direction.
"As you wish, my lady." He gave me the car keys and bowed a little.
I need to visit my parents tonight.
"Thank you, Alfred," I said while fiddling the keys for my black Porsche Cayenne. "My lady, here are the candles with a cricket lighter. Is this okay for the bouquet?" Butler Wong asked as he fastened his pace towards me. "That's fine. Kindly put it at the trunk of my car," I instructed as I opened the trunk and unlocked my car. I swiftly slid inside and started the engine. I adjusted the temperature to be a little warmer for it is cold tonight. Shoot! I forgot my cap. I lowered the glass window and called for Butler Wong. "Yes, my lady," he answered. "I forgot my black Versace cap," I replied, "It was hanged on the white standing coat rack in my room," I instructed. "Right away, my lady." He nodded in response, and immediately went inside the manor. After few minutes, he came back with my black cap and handed it to me. "Thanks, Butler Wong." I reached for the cap and put it on my head. "My pleas
I blinked a few times just to check if I am not just seeing things. Could it really be… "Doom?" I blurted out suddenly. I covered my mouth, as an instinctive response. I was hesitant to approach him because it seems to me that he was resting. I don't want to disturb him. I heaved a deep sigh as I stepped back and started retreating from my position. I gave a glance for one last time, but I was frozen on the spot and stared with wide eyes to find out that Doom was not there anymore. Where could he possibly go? I tilted my head side by side to check the surroundings. Did I wake him up? Was I too loud? "Looking for me?" someone spoke coldly behind my back as a hand tapped my shoulder. I jolted in response due to my reflexes as I gasped looking back at who it was. I was surprised by his sudden appearance. I almost had a mini heart attack!
"Seeing things? What do you mean?"My forehead creased because he was spouting nonsense."Alfred was the one who fetched you, my lady," he replied."Fetched where?" I questioned."We were a little worried because you did not come home immediately after visiting your parents," he explained, "Alfred checked on you on the cemetery, and he found you passed out on the ground.""That's absurd! Are you saying that I have lost my mind?" I exasperated."I'm sorry. It's not like that please calm down, my lady," he apologized, "Do you want some coffee?""No, it's alright." I dismissed him and climbed the stairs towards my room. What's happening? Was it only a dream? No, it's real. He's real.I opened the sliding glass doors of the balcony and went outside to get some fresh air."It's been so long since I have felt so alive. I wish I can see you again, Doom," I whispered with a sigh."Seems like your wish was granted."I tilted my head sideward, and I s
“The national police are looking for you,” he paused as he raised his right arm showing the home phone. “…on the phone. They said it was an emergency,” he added. His expression clearly says that it was bad news. He gave me the phone in a flash as soon as I extended my arm, and held out my hand. I put the phone on my ear as I uttered the word, “Hello.” “Good day, this is Officer Green from the office of the National Police Department,” the police officer greeted me, “May I speak with Miss Lily Emerson?” I dismissed Butler Wong using my hand for privacy, and I cleared my throat. “Speaking,” I replied in a calm tone, “What is this all about?” “We are deeply sorry for disturbing you in your humble abode, but we must inform you that three prisoners were involved in a dawn jailbreak today,” he explained slowly the i
I could not count how many times he muttered curses before he vanished into thin air. Meanwhile, here I am left dumbfounded on what had just happened earlier. My mind was debating whether we really did it or not. Technically, yes we sure did. But it was the fault of our recklessness so in my opinion it was not counted. I was sitting on the floor, my body was stupefied for a brief time. I touched the cut on my lip, as I flinched in pain. When we lose balance and stumbled towards each other, my body went sideward. I don’t know what had gotten into him, but he was able to catch me with his arms This resulted in the two of us falling straight to the hard ground, while I was on top of him. The impact was stronger than we have calculated. With the event happening so fast, all I could remember was his lips parted a lit
I think I am fated to die today in the hands of my wicked aunt. I whimpered in pain, as I fell to the ground clutching the knife stabbed on my chest. I shut my eyes closed tightly, as I embraced my doom. Doom? Doom, I remembered Doom. Will he be able to save me this time again? Or maybe, I guess it's already too late for me. The blood was nonstop dripping from my chest. I supposed I will die from blood loss in five minutes according to one article that I have read. Suddenly, a familiar feeling crept into my veins. I can no longer hear the insane cackles of my aunt. The blood stopped gushing from my wound. It felt like time froze again, and it only means one thing. “D-doom…” I faintly whispered under my breath. “Open your eyes. It's not yet your time.” Did I
“You’re safe now, my lady,” Butler Wong said and greeted me with a smile. “Where am I?” I asked as I roamed my eyes on the surroundings. I saw the commotion outside the door. I see, I am in the hospital. Doctors and nurses were busy saving people's lives. “Hospital, my lady,” he replied. I returned my gaze to my butler who was smiling at me the whole time. This was the first time that I noticed it, but he was kind of creepy. “Butler Wong, where have you been the whole time last night?” I asked suspiciously but I did not make it too obvious. “What do you mean, my lady?” His smile never faded from his lips. “I won’t say it twice. You know what I mean,” I said coldly. “By any chance, do you suspect me, my lady?” he asked as his smile was wiped off from his face. “Is there any reason for me to suspect you, butler Wong?” I retorted his question. I crossed my arms, not taking my eyes off him as
After few days, I slowly regained my strength and got discharged from the hospital. I was permitted to take a few days of rest from the house before going back to school. Currently, I’m just hanging out with myself In my room. Enjoying the scent of my beloved books, the aroma of my hot coffee, and the wonderful bliss of the serene ambiance of today's weather. I opened the glass doors of my balcony and was greeted by the rushing uninvited guests called the treacherous breezy winds that usually appear during the season of the rainy days. I love the cold feather-like kisses of the wind as it lightly brushes through my blonde hair and the tips of my porcelain skin. It was refreshing, the ultimate paradise, and my very own haven. The rhythm of the raindrops echoed in my ears like a mellifluous melody that made me dance like I'm grooving in my favorite sonata.
