Chapter 5

Danielle.

I didn’t know what else to do, I stood still as though time had stopped and it was frozen. I locked my phone screen as I was ready to walk away from him. “Excuse me.” I managed to say as I looked up, I couldn’t look into his eyes, they were so cold and bold. I couldn’t dare to look at them, he had just yelled and said words in manners that would hurt anyone, and all the rumors about him were true,

I need to leave here and-

“Where are you going?” He held on to my hands as he tried to stop me.

As soon as our eyes met like the sun and the sea, he cleared his throats and readjusted, he removed his hands and placed them in his pockets. I could only gulp, regardless of what he was being said about, he looked so good at that moment but I need to leave there.

I knew what I had to do. “I won’t tell a soul about what I had just heard, it would be like I wasn’t here.” I felt my sweat glands producing more fluids, I doubt if he could have seen it but I felt them rolling down.

“Oh really.” He walked three steps closer to me, I moved backwards so not to- not to be caught inches away from him. “Tell me more.” He laughed as he locked the door. Our eyes met again and my voice got trapped in my lungs.

“I just wanted to ask. How are you so relaxed and carefree after just that?” I asked without fear this time. I raised my chin as I spoke.

“Oh that.” He scoffed as he bit his lips, he smiled as he rested on the wall, he said “I have gone through a lot more than this, this isn’t so bad. I have been worse.” He explained as he smiled and looked down. He stood up and he walked to me, we stared at each other. I got lost in his eyes and I could feel a surge of tension building up between us. I gulped again. He accessed- inches away from each other's face, he let out a smirk. I didn’t know what next would happen but if anyone walked in on us- they would sense the high heartbeat rates.

He turned away and unlocked the door, he walked out after and he didn’t close it. I sighed and exhaled while I placed my hands on the wall, I panted as I was already tensed and I felt my anxiety.

I relaxed and I decided to go back to my friends, I could just pretend that didn’t happen. I adjusted myself and I went to join summer.

“Hi.” I said in a high pitched tone as I gulped in the glass of wine.

“Wait.” Summer and Adam turned to each other, they had a smirk on like they noticed something and they were itching to spill it all out. “What?” I looked at them like they were crazy.

“You just walked out after Arthur- and that’s suspicious.” Summer moved her head up and down as she sipped the wine while she looked at me. I scoffed as I could tell that she already had her head wrapped around whatever image that she may think might have happened I knew better not to laugh.

“Oh no, it’s definitely not what you guys are thinking- I didn’t walk right after him.” I said in a clear tone, Adam didn’t seem to believe me, he was rather sure that I walked right after Arthur.

“Oh right, maybe you guys had a moment.” Adam blurted out and it was as though he knew.

“We didn’t have a moment.” I said in a firm tone, any other tone or the slightest smile-

It could ruin everything.

“Okay so you guys were together then.” He tried to twist the whole thing and I caught him.

“What- no. That’s not what I said- forget it. We didn’t have any moments and I certainly didn’t walk out right after him. Jeez. Just enjoy the show.” I changed the topic as I closed it. I didn’t want to start explaining how he looked different and how he looked inches away from my face.

I was sure that this could escalate and go wrong.

“Okay. If you say so.” Adam and summer agreed and decided to be off my tail but someone else was on mine.

Asides the fact that I was distracted with what I heard Arthur say and how he was close to me, I felt like he was watching me from the high table, I could swore that he looked at me and he didn’t take his eyes off, it was awkward, unpleasant and I felt hot and without choice.

I stopped paying attention to him looking at me, I didn’t understand why I would be bothered with something as silly as that and what if he was- wait no. He wasn’t, there were more interesting things In this hall and so he didn’t look at me. Maybe the feeling I was having was something else watching me.

I decided to pay attention to what both Adam and summer were being talking about, it was hard not to look at him. I tried my best and I made sure that I was ignoring it all. But for some reason I didn’t know why he locked the door or why my heart raced.

And then he moved closer to me, it was as though everything felt right. It was like I was comfortable, I didn’t understand it and it kept replaying in my head like some catchy song or some movie scene that makes my heart glee.

I tried to snap myself and look away from him but it got worse.

It was like I was continuing the scene in my head.

“Why are you blushing?” Summer and Adam asked at the same time.

I gulped as I didn’t even know I was blushing.
