CHAPTER 1

“You’re kidding right?”

“Does it look like I’m kidding?”

“You can’t be serious. How can you just tell me this and think I’ll accept it so easily? I do not have a father neither do I have a brother,I will never accept them.”

“You have no choice than to accept them Mia. They’re coming over to take us out for dinner tonight and you’ll behave yourself,do you understand me young lady?”

I scoff and storm off to my room making sure to slam the door shut.

I cannot believe my mom,she just woke up one morning and decided to get married to someone I don’t know and have never met…okay maybe I’ve met him a couple of times but that’s about it.

She had travelled few weeks back saying she had some work and came back this morning,deciding this evening to tell me about her marriage to that man.

I know the man a bit,he’s Max Banks a man whom my mom started dating two months ago and apparently is now my new dad.

I’m so sure the man’s son must be just as shocked as i am, or maybe he already knew about this whole alliance and is indifferent about it.

“Ugghh mom why’d you do this?” I groan into my pillow.

She has even told me that we’ll be moving into his huge mansion in the next two days. I’m pretty convinced that she married him because of his money.

Ohh I am so sorry I haven’t introduced myself.

My name is Mia, Mia Rooke…or well in this case Mia Banks. I am a straight A’s student which makes my mom to always be proud of me. The only problem she has with me is the fact that I’m very blunt and give a befitting reply to everything,well according to her words I speak before I think.

I have long brown hair and deep blue eyes. I am perfectly proportioned with a tiny waist and perfectly round butt with a perfectly full C cup which I am very proud of. I love my body,not too skinny and not too chubby too.

Basically,I find myself pretty but I don’t rub it in people’s faces and I like myself for that.

“Mia! Can I speak with you.” I hear a soft knock on my door.

“Yea mom come in.” I reply dryly and she opens the door. She walks in and settles down on my bed right beside me.

“Look Mia…” She puts her hand on my shoulder.

“I know you won’t want to accept Max as your father so easily but please do this for me. He makes me really happy and I know he loves me. Yes this marriage happened so fast but please try to be happy for me.” She pleads.

“I just don’t want you to get hurt again mom, you just met him.” She smiles.

“I know you’re concerned for me but I promise you I made the right choice. Please be happy for me Mia.”

“Okay mom I’ve heard you,anything that makes you happy.” She heaves a sigh of relief.

“But if this marriage comes crumbling down,I’ll try my best not to say I told you so.” I laugh mischievously and she joins in.

“Stop talking rubbish Mia,it won’t.” She finally speaks.

“Get ready dear! Max and his son will be here by seven.” She tells me as she gets up from my bed and I nod.

She leaves the room and I sigh. Guess I’ll be meeting my stepbro today.

I head to my bathroom and take a warm refreshing bath and once I’m done, I dry my body and settle down in front of my dressing mirror to get ready.

“Honey are you ready yet? They’ll be here soon.” My mom yells for the umpteenth time and I wonder why she has not yet barged into my room to drag me out.

“Coming mom.” I yell back as I stare at myself in the mirror.

My hair falling unto my back with a hair clip by the side,a not so fancy yellow backless dress which is above my knee and beautiful black open toe heels and a little touch of makeup with lipgloss.

“I’m ready.” I smile and pick up my black purse from my bed and phone before leaving the room.

I put my phone in my purse and walk down the stairs to see mom’s satisfied look.

“You look so pretty dear.” She compliments and I smile.

“You look prettier mom.” She smiles.

I eye her up and down and see that she went all out on the dress,thankfully she put on light makeup because I’ll surely have something to say if she came out looking like a clown with heavy makeup.

I stare at her flowing dress again and feel like I underdressed.

“It’s just a date mom. It’s not your wedding.” I eye her dress again.

“Someone is jealous I see.” She chuckles and just then we hear a car horn outside our house.

“They’re here.” Mom squeals in excitement and hurries to the door while I carefully walk after her fearing that she’ll fall any time soon but that doesn’t happen.

We get outside and I’m met with a handsome looking Max,his hair gelled and he’s looking fine in that tuxedo. I’ve seen him a couple times but he looks quite different today but still as handsome as before,if not more.

“Ladies.” He says,his eyes lighting up as soon as he sights my mom who jumps into his arms and they share a kiss.

“Hey Mia.” He says warmly after they’re done making out and takes my hand placing a warm kiss on it.

“Mr Banks.” I greet.

He opens the car door for mom and helps her get inside while I get inside without waiting for him to help me.

I’m quite disappointed not to find his son sitting in the car as I’m curious as to what he looks like.

Is he hot like his dad? Or did his dad not pass down that trait? And is he a gentle man or a high school bad boy?

“Josh will meet us there.” Max tells me or probably mom as soon as he starts the engine.

That’s my stepbrother’s name,mom had already told me.

“Umm Mia. I’m sure this whole marriage thing doesn’t settle down well with you…”

“Don’t worry, you don’t have to worry about me.”

I have no choice but to accept it,after all the deed has been done.

“Kate did say a lot of good things about you,I’m happy to see how right she was.” I take that as a compliment.

We drive for a while,with small chats every now and then and soon,we reach the restaurant where the dinner’s taking place.
