Chapter Seventeen
I was engulfed in darkness when I hit the murky water before I finally emerged at the surface. I wiped my eyes, hoping I didn’t smear my makeup too much. My eyes finally adjusted to my surroundings just as soon as I saw a figure in his boxers swinging on the rope straight for me. I gasped as he hit the water next to me, splashing water over my head. I didn’t get a good look at who it was, but I did see black ink on his right shoulder.
Zak emerged from the water shaking the water from his hair with a devious grin. “What are you doing?” I hissed. Was he trying to start a fight with Ryan?
“Swimming.” He said and dragged his hand across the surface of the water, drenching my face once again.

The room falls silent as we enter and all eyes land on us. The circular room was large and filled with chairs that sat in a circle with the exception of a path leading to the center of the room. A few people sat in the chairs, waiting to see the show. I swallowed hard when my eyes landed on the four individuals standing in front of me. They weren’t dressed in any sort of formal clothing, but they’re tall build and muscles definitely intimidated me.The man in the middle sighs irritably upon seeing Zak as we walk to the middle of the room. He had a black shirt that fitted to him and blue jeans. His golden hair was pushed back away from his face that was hidden beneath a full beard. It was dim and hard to make out many features. “You know you’re not allowed to be here, Zakariah.” He crosses his arms over his chest, much like a parent scolding a child.

The next morning Zak and I decided to go and talk with my Dad to see if we could pry any answers from him.
