Chapter 8

Quinn thought that Calvin was so angry that he would definitely punish him.

In the next second, the man narrowed his eyes, flung off Quinn\'s hand so lightly, and walked away in a stride.

\"I have something else to do. I will teach you a lesson some other day.\"

He left without hesitation, leaving Quinn standing alone in a daze.

He couldn\'t help but think that Calvin was going to rush to the Civil Affairs Bureau that\'s why he left in such a hurry.

Knowing that he shouldn\'t be sad about this, Quinn still felt a tinge of pain in his heart. He struggled to reach out for support on the wall next to him, his eyes went dark in the next second then the whole person lost consciousness.

Calvin, who had already gone far away, didn\'t see that Quinn had fainted behind him.

The sky was already dark when Quinn regained his consciousness.

When he opened his eyes, his vision adjusted to a pure bright light. A slender figure stood by the bed.

Quinn couldn\'t react for a few seconds before fully realizing that it was Xia.

He subconsciously bounced off the bed, and suddenly felt a pain in the back of his hand. He hurriedly scanned the room but couldn\'t find Calvin anywhere.

Quinn breathed a sigh of relief. His body\'s consciousness finally recovered slowly and the life-threatening pain he felt before finally passed.

  Fortunately, Calvin wasn\'t here.

Xia chuckled and sauntered toward Quinn\'s bed.

The smile on her face was a bit cold and her high-heeled shoes hit the marble floor, making a crisp sound every time she took a step.

\"Mr. Leng, are you finally awake?\"

Quinn looked up at the woman before him and saw that her delicate face was full of anger.

He was fully awake at this time and instantly realized that since Xia was here alone then Calvin must not be here.

So he relaxed his whole body as he leaned quietly on the head of the bed and looked at Xia.

The girl\'s exquisite face was a bit hideous at this moment because of the anger.

She approached Quinn slowly, her fists clenched, \"Did you call him? Was that why he left?\"

Quinn listened to Xia\'s interrogative tone with a faint expression, and the corner of his mouth were gently pulling up into a smirk.

\"Yes,\" he calmly responded with a smile.

Xia was trembling with anger. She pointed her index finger at Quinn, wishing to tear the smug face in front of her into pieces!

\"Do you honestly think that you can steal Calvin with your dirty antics?\" Xia said with a sneer as she sauntered toward the door. \"Quinn, you might as well take a closer look, you have been lying here for so long, has Calvin ever visited you?\"

\"Oh, you\'re right,\" his expression was faint, not even looking at the emotional Xia at all. \"But, Ms. Lin, I think you\'ve misunderstood. I never thought about stealing Calvin.\"

He looked at Xia, his eyes were clear and clean but was glinting with coldness, the corner of his mouth was still pulled up into a smirk, \"I did it just to spite you.\"

What he said was so calm that Xia couldn\'t do anything but just stare at him and laugh with anger. She then thought about it and decided that she shouldn\'t lose to such a man.

So she squinted her eyes in the next second and a sharp look slid across her eyes.

\"There is one thing you don\'t know yet, Quinn,\" she paused and bent down to approach him. \"I should congratulate you. Your father just published his statement in the newspaper saying that he would sever his relationship with you, and with this, the Lu family ended up investing in the Leng family. Shouldn\'t you congratulate your family since it was so easy for them to get what they want out of life?\"

Quinn\'s hand that was pierced with a needle trembled. He subconsciously raised his head to look at Xia.

Her eyes were contemptuous and mocking, she obviously wasn\'t telling a lie.

He originally thought that his father had said that he would sever the relationship, but only to scare him. He didn\'t expect that he\'d actually publish a newspaper article to make it official.

  Just how disappointed were they?

His heart ached, his eyes dimmed, but he returned to normal in an instant, his gaze was flat against Xia\'s gaze.

\"Ms. Lin, since I am no longer a member of the Leng family, then there\'s no need to congratulate me.\"

Xia didn\'t speak and only stared at Quinn\'s face. She suddenly felt that his overly handsome face was really disgusting and she couldn\'t help but grit her teeth in distaste.

\"I regret it. I should have let them smash your face,\" the woman\'s eyes were slightly squinted, and her voice was low and hoarse, revealing a bit of cruelty.

Quinn reacted at once, no wonder he felt that the car hitting him was intentional.

It turned out it was Xia who instigated it.

He met Xia\'s already crazy eyes and saw her smile again.

Xia took a step back and slowly straightened up, the smile in the corner of her eyes glinted with a hint of sarcasm, \"Don\'t be surprised, Quinn. I just wanted to give you a warning. From now on, stay away from Calvin!\"

With the familiar warning, Quinn squinted his eyes and suddenly felt a little impatient. These people never seem to be clear on who should stay away from whom.

He really didn\'t understand how these people could always treat the law as nothing and oppress people thinking it\'s just and reasonable.

\"Xia, are you not afraid of retribution?\" his voice was not loud and the emotions in his eyes were dull, but Xia\'s heart trembled inexplicably.

She rallied quickly, brushed her hair, turned around.

\"Quinn, I\'m telling you, this is the last time. You better heed my warning, or you\'ll have it worse next time.\"
