CHAPTER FOUR
TADE
Her door sensor alarm comes on, Tade, a brown skin melanin-popping lady as she loves to describe herself gets off her bed, slips her perfectly pedicured feet into her fluffy moccasin, and walks to the living room to answer the door. A DHL dispatch rider holds out two customized LV bags and hands her a printed form to sign in before handing over the package to her, She smiles and closes the door. She sits on her sofa in the corner of her heavily decorated sitting room and opens the bag to unbox and adore the Louis Vuitton bag and matching shoes, her phone rings "Hi Baby!" she blushes as she answers the call "with a voice like that, it means you are no longer mad at me" the voice echoes from the phone, she laughs "one designer is enough to shut me up, but two! What the hell does anger mean again?" "I'm glad I am forgiven, I promise it won't happen again" Tade rolls her eyes as Richard makes the same promise the twentieth time that month, a call comes in interjecting her conversation "Richard hunnie, Susan is calling, let me hear what she has to say, l will give you a call back" she ends Richard's call and picks Susan's call "Hi babes!" "Tade gather the girls around by 4 pm, I have huge news for you girls!" Susan speaks excitedly as Tade answers the phone "Chill! What is going on? Give me a hint as a reward for being the P.R.O, I pinky swear not to spill to the girls, you know your secret is safe with me" Tade begs Susan anxiously who in turn laughs out loud "So you don't know why you are the P.R.O? News spread faster from your end dear" Tade exclaims in total shock "wow! so you mean I am the basket mouth of the clique? I feel insulted right now" Susan who is already feeling bad tries so hard to water the insult with a little compliment "girl! I don't mean it that way. You are just so talented in ways you can never imagine! Even in your subconscious, you are a better broadcaster than most who take it as a profession" Tade's mouth flew wide open "Oh my goodness! This is the height of insult i have ever received..." Susan interrupted "see you soon dearest, I love you!" she hangs up.Tade still with her mouth wide open flings the shoes off her thigh and paces up and down her living room "So this girls take me for granted for all my good deeds? Little wonder what they say behind me.. but all I do is make everywhere lively! Why am I being ridiculed for it?" she continues dramatically "boring isn't in my dictionary even if it means sharing some valid information about someone, I mean valid because I make sure I don't say false things about anyone! I take my time to find out the truth and table it so l and my girls can have something to talk about, l don't do these for myself dammit! All I do, I do it for the girls yet I am being seen as the leaking mouth?" she stops pacing for a moment and then picks up her phone "Nora better have an explanation to say to me if this is exactly how she feels about me" she dials severally but Nora didn't pick up her phone, she grunts and rolls her eyes "Hughhh! Nora is always unavailable when needed! Chichi better tell me this is a lie!" she dials Chichi's number which was picked up immediately "is it true I am the gossip mongeramongst us?""Hello! Let's start with Good day and ... Who the hell said that?" Chichi replies calmly "Susan called me to gather you girls around by 4 for a time out and according to her, I am the only one good at doing that" Tade rolls her eyes as she reports "Common! She didn't mean it that way, you are the thread that ties us stronger daily baby! And Hell yes! I am so in for a time out, I will go insane if I stay one more moment in this house" Chichi replies excitedly "Ehn Ehn! She said she has a big announcement for us, despite how hard I tried to milk out the news, she insisted on not spilling but I am guessing it has a man involved for it to be tagged H.U.G.E" Tade chatters absentmindedly while Chichi scoffs over the phone "Well, Nora isn't picking up, try to give her a call so she wouldn't be left out, see you by 4 pm"Chichi smiles "Superb! SUSANSusan wonders for the umpteenth time why a man would just bail out on her without having to hear or see her first. "Has it finally gotten to this? Won't I go for deliverance like this? Maybe my father's family has finally caught up with me after several years of my mother's trial to keep me away from them since his death" Her mother knocks on her door softly, she wipes away the tiny tear off her cheek and calls out to her "come in"Her mother walks in grinning from ear to ear "so how did it go? TIME OUTThe restaurant is scanty than usual, the attendants walk around cleaning off lefts out off the table while the waitresses have all the time in their hands to gossip and laugh around. Few customers are sitting quietly at their tables. In a corner, Chichi and Susan chatter like they haven't seen one other in decades while Tade sits fiddling with her phone and munching the chips arranged in a fancy dish on the table. All attention was directed to Nora as she walks in "Here comes the lady of the hour! SUSANSusan scrolled through her Instagram feed severally but no new update showed on her timeline, she had followed Henry on Instagram two days back but he hasn't followed her back nor spoken to her since their last conversation. She is starting to become worried, is this what he is like, or is he just NOT into her? He never apologized for ghosting her on their supposed first video call, all he did was gave her a call a day later and caught up with the conversation like nothing happened and she was quick to forget because he really is very good at conversing. SUSANSusan's phone wouldn't stop buzzing after Bode posted her pictures from Linda's birthday at the club the other night. TADETade waved at the security officer as she drives into the parking lot of Sunrise Mall, it's been two years since she discovered Pheecoz Beauty Salon, their customer's service, neatness, specialty in all styles, and the fact that the salon is mostly patronized by celebrities, made her choose the Salon as her final bus stop. For Tade, the primary reasons for going to the salon on a Friday can only be to get the right connections and get explicit celebrity gist. Getting her hair done is just secondary.
