The night seemed so holy without blemish as cool and smooth breeze creeped into the room, soothing my skin with every sense of humility.

The dark sky was aglow with bright stars in their graceful positions, illuminating the earth, awake and sleepless.

I was about to sleep but I realised I needed to bring in my clothings from the line outside.

I quickly got out of my bed, went out, brought all in, and went back inside.

Lying on my bed again, a strange noise suddenly struck the side of my fairly opened window, so heavily, leaving me appalled as I jerked hard like it was right inside my room.

I stood firm, my gaze fixed through the window as I tried to wipe my eyes to see clearly what was outside. My mind kept processing everything…

Everything...

My view was blurry, snowlike, but with a heavy and thick soot forming like a dark cloud outside. I paused, trying to figure out what it was. My eyes kept blinking in shock.

"Run Irisha.. run.. it's coming… oh no.. it's moving so fast.. run….!!!" Mella's voice peeped through, as I felt caught up between two worlds; confusion and total devastation.

Talking about Mella, she's one sweet girl who's always there to keep me warm each time I needed it. She's courageous too, but not as the elder brother, and so smart as well.

Suddenly, I could hear a loud bang like the heavy footsteps of a dragon as a creature approached, accompanied by a cymbal-like sound from the fallen steel tray above, beside my bed, so loud and sharp that the empty woods resonated with their echoes.

Fear and tension gripped my nerves, my feet began to wobble, my pupils dilated, my fingers twitched in panic that I could feel the hairs on my body stand on ends, flushed with goosebumps, more like I was going to die the next minute.

My head spinned.

"Did you just hear it when Mella said run… Irisha..? Run…!!!" Jayla echoed from the other end, hastily beckoning on me to leave.

Jayla was Mella's elder brother, so tough and fearless. He was one guy who was mostly there to protect the family. One guy I've always admired his courage, even till date. There was no two him.

I could sense something was off, but I just couldn't place my hands on what exactly.

Seeing the entire premises become so hostile to everyone, including me, I jerked as I felt a tough hand pull me to its side.

My heart leaped!

"Oh my God…!" I cried out, gently closing my eyes not to see what or who that was.

All I could ever imagine was that, that was actually going to be the end of me. The feeling was so intense.

I relinquished.

"Just kill me, at least I know that if I die here and now, nobody would have to bother me about anything again, and I won't have to think and worry of what to eat anymore, unlike if I even succeed and survive this horrible torture". I concluded.

My entire body had given up already, until someone forgot a very hard bash on my upper back, as I was already falling to the ground. That sound brought me back to life.

I got up with full force, glanced around and realized what was happening in my environment again.

It was Mella.

I got up and began to take to my heels, just side by side her.

Everything was happening just so fast… just like my world was being fast forwarded.

Heavy scream blasted from the other end of the building. I paused, gazing at Mella and Jayla as I wheeled.

"Dad..!" We all chorused in tension.

Jayla sprinted out of the room, leaving me and Mella behind as we ran after him.

"Oh… my… w-w-world..!!!" I flinched, glared behind Mella in shock, as I saw lots of items in the sitting room turned red. The hard floor was no exception.

"W-wwwhat the hell j-just hh-happened here?" Mella stuttered, trying to accommodate her emotions right now.

I was speechless as I watched the monster slowly walked up to her and chopped off her head, as it slashed her throat with its palmer side, leaving her body hanging in the air, her head dangling from its mouth as her hair was tied around its sharp, piercing teeth. His fangs. And with a loud growl, he walked up to Jayla, stretched forth its right hand towards him and pulled him out of his hiding with one of its claws, lifted him and smashed him right on the ground.

I watched Jayla jerk to death.

I wanted to cry, but every drop of tear dried up in my eyes like they were roasted with pain and fear.

Everything was happening just so fast, that I could not even comprehend any.

How the hell he did that is what I didn't even understand, and still can't tell till date.

When I turned to watch the entire scene carefully, I realized one of my foster parents was lying helpless and lifeless on the couch, gore trickling to the floor, and the other on the ground. I could hear his heart beating slowly, but couldn't help as my feet felt glued to the ground.

I wished I could help.

I felt my fingers vibrating steadily, and suddenly, I felt a gush of hot liquid pouring down my thighs..

Now Mella and everyone else is gone, and I've got just myself and myself alone.. all alone in that thick deep deep woods with that beast.

"What do I do now..?" I asked myself, muttering my words. Fear engulfed me as the beast moved towards me and paused. "Oh God…maybe it's my turn to die now.." I quivered, my teeth gnashing in terror. I couldn't open nor close my eyes, for I didn't know what to do or what to say.

Its eyeballs were black, and their pupils bright red in colour, slit like those of a reptile, burning in fury.

Why us?

Fairly long hairs coated its skin from head to toes. Its long, peg-like horse teeth bulged as it growled again just right before me now, releasing more tension in the air as the empty woods echoed in unison, a soft cry was released from the dark woods, not knowing what it was when I turned to look. Another gush of hot liquid flowed down me.

The beast grabbed my throat, its claws almost piercing through my skin, I froze as he brought it's ugly looking mouth towards mine, gazing endlessly into my eyes. That look touched my soul.

Was he actually planning to kiss me? Gosh!

"I'll be back for you! You can ask your mother to know more about me!" His dissonant voice spilled as he was gazing so deeply into my eyes.

I kept wriggling.

What a weird creature!

It took a few steps away, and returned in full speed, gripped me and flung me through the window.

I've never seen anyone or anything with such speed in my entire life.

And in a blink, I found myself far deep in a gulch, kind of dry but buggy. I looked upwards, glanced around, and a loud scream escaped my lips.

I tried to call for help and I wished someone could hear me.
