CHAPTER FOUR

We stood in front of a large, elegant, and stunning mansion. Two guards waited on either side of the door, greeting Daniel; but, instead of greeting them, he began to enter the mansion, giving them the cold shoulder. 'RUDE!'

"Good evening, Sir," says the narrator. A lady, perhaps in her mid-40s, stated. She was lovely and appeared trustworthy. She had a genuine smile on her face, which added to her beauty.

"You too, Sophie oh yeah! And she'll be my personal slave from now on! I—Ahh! Emm… I rescued her from a slave market. You know better what to do now, don't you?"

I was listening to him with my mouth open. 'WTF?'

"Hey!  Are you insane, Dan-?" He slammed me into the nearest wall before I could finish my sentence. My back slams into it, hard, as I scream in agony.

"I told you not to call me by my name!" he yelled fiercely, his eyes turning red. 'What in the world is going on?' I was frightened. 'What's going on with him?'

When the lady, whose name was Sophie, interrupted him, I was shocked. "Sir, she is unfamiliar with our society's rules. That's why she said that, but don't worry; just let me teach her first," she said this with a confident smile.

"Yeah... You'd best hurry up and get her ready in 20 minutes. In the living room, I'm waiting," he said before turning around and walking away.

"Come on sweetheart, we too need to hurry before he returns," the lady said. "But-" before I could say anything else, she said, "Follow me," and I did.

I followed her into a room filled with lovely outfits.

"Here, sweetie, go take a shower and then put on this dress. Also, please arrive in 10 minutes because we don't have much time. I hope you understand what I mean," as she handed me a lovely mid-thigh dress, she said quietly and kindly.

Well, I do need a shower, so I did what she told me to do without saying anything.

The shower was warm, and a warm shower was the perfect thing to take at this moment. I cleansed my body and wrapped it in a bathrobe. I put on the dress Miss Sophie provided me after drying my body.

The gown was just stunning. I let my hair naturally fall on my back in loose curls.

I was looking in the mirror when the doorknob turned and Miss Sophie arrived with her trademark smile. "You're looking lovely, miss..."

"Thank you and my name is Jamima, Jamima Parker," I replied.

"Oh dear," she sighed, her face sad. I wondered what was wrong with my name that she became unhappy the moment she heard it.

"Well, Jamima, as you can see, there are some regulations here, and everyone who wishes to live here must follow them all, but in your situation, you have some more rules to follow," she said.

"But I have no idea why I'm here, he remarked to my father earlier-" I came to a halt when I remembered what he said to me in the car.

"I—ah! I mean, what are those rules exactly?" I inquired as I attempted to change the subject.

"Okay, so here are some rules that you must rigorously obey in all circumstances, even if you don't want to, or else the repercussions will be dire."

As she began to explain, I nodded.

"First and foremost, never, ever speak up unless he asks you to, and never, ever talk back to your master.

Second, understand that their orders are final! This must be done carefully and correctly.

Third, you must address him as master, sir, or whatever he instructs you to do."

I was quietly listening to her because I knew what I needed to do next: ask him. What in the world is going on? So I pretended to pay attention to her.

"Fourth, he can drink from you... So, if he's hungry, you give him your blood."

My eyes widened as she said the last one. What exactly does that imply?

"Wait, what do you mean by allowing him to swallow my blood?" I inquired, surprised, “Is he a vampire or what?” I joked.

"Oh God, don't tell, you have no idea he's a Va-" Miss Sophie wanted to say something but was cut short by the voice on the other side of the door.

"Madam Sophie, Sir is inquiring about her," a maid stated.

"Jamima, there you have it. Go with her " she informed me.

And I do as she said, thinking to myself, Denial, you son of a bitch! You'd best tell me what's going on around here.

"Hello, my name is Samantha, and you..." The maid who was escorting her inquired.

"My name is Jamima," I introduced myself.

"So you've become the master's new personal slave."

"Yeah... I guess so," I said, rolling my eyes.

"So... umm... You are aware of the restrictions, correct?" she asked, afraid.

"Yeah... And with each rule she told me, I grew angry," I grumbled.

"But remember, Jamima; no matter what, you must care for, serve, respect, and obey your master," she said, concerned about me.

I could tell by her tone that she, like me, was not a big fan of regulations.

"Also, if you disobey any of these rules or attempt to flee, you should be prepared for he WILL punish you." She stated.

"Is that all there is to it? Because... now I'm considering fleeing," I was fuming with rage.

Samantha made a shaky motion with her head. "Don't! Because you'll very certainly face a worse sentence if you do."

Is this what I'm going to do with my life now? What is a slave? What about my previous existence? I couldn't keep the rage from erupting in my mind and on my face.

"I assumed I'd wake up and this would be a dream within a dream. That's what I suppose I do. I guess I just keep believing that if I keep going with the flow, I'll wake up. Isn't that what happens in dreams? You continue to follow its rules until your mother, father, or someone else wakes you up... I guess I'll simply keep hoping to get called or anything "I added a hushed tone.

"This would be a nightmare, not a dream if it were anything." She quietly responded.

I sighed quietly, this wasn't a dream, it was real. Nothing I did could possibly rouse me up because I was already awake. I groaned and bit my lip.

"Well, life isn’t easy for us, isn't it?"

She raised an eyebrow, but then returned the smile.

"Your Master is a kind man, although he can be strict at times. He's typically calm and cool, so I'm not sure why he's so indifferent with you. I've rarely seen him angry, but when he does, it's best to be on his good side. If you irritate him like you did today, he will not hesitate to injure you or... even kill you."

I nodded.
