Prologue

I was back in the car with my parents on a rainy night. I could hear them arguing, and it was making me feel really anxious. The rain was coming down hard, and the windshield wipers were going really fast, but I couldn't see anything outside except the blurry lights of passing cars.

"How could you do this to me?" my dad said, his voice angry.

"I'm sorry, it just happened. Couldn't you just forgive me?" my mom pleaded.

"How could it just have happened? If I did something like that, could you have forgiven me easily?" my dad retorted.

"Why couldn't you just have told me if you weren't happy with me?" my dad asked, his voice rising.

"I'm sorry, please just forgive me," my mom said, her voice trembling.

"How could I forgive you when I'd always be reminded of what you did when I look at her?" my dad said, his voice full of pain and anger.

Suddenly, a blinding light appeared in front of the car, and I could hear the screeching of brakes. I braced myself for impact, but the crash never came. Instead, the car started to spin out of control, and I felt like I was on a ride that I couldn't get off.

When the car finally came to a stop, I realized that I was trapped. I could see smoke and flames coming from the engine, and I could hear the sound of sirens in the distance. My parents were badly hurt, and I could hear them moaning in pain. I tried to move, but I was stuck, and I felt like I was suffocating.

The rain was coming down harder then, and I could feel it soaking through my clothes. I tried to scream for help, but no sound came out.

Suddenly, I wake up with a start, drenched in sweat. It takes me a moment to realize that it was just a nightmare, but the memory of the car accident and my parents' argument still lingers. I take a few deep breaths, trying to calm myself down, and remind myself that it was just a nightmare.

Feeling a sense of relief, I lay back down and drift off to sleep, comforted by the knowledge that the nightmare is over and that I'm safe and sound.
