Chapter 18

EMILIA POV

The next time I opened my eyes, I found myself back in the bedroom that I had woken up in the first time.

After a few more seconds of trying to grasp at my consciousness and figure out what was happening around me, I realized that my hands were now chained to the headboard.

“Daemon!” I called out, in need of an explanation on everything that had happened to me before and while I was unconscious.

An image flashed in my head, and I suddenly remembered seeing Katarina inside the strange laboratory that Daemon had taken me into.

“No, no, that’s not right,” I told myself, shaking my head. My memory wasn’t right. What would Katarina, of all people, be doing in vampire territory with the king of the vampires? That would be likened to her begging for her death and for her brother’s pack to get attacked again.

The image came again and this time, I tried to replace her face with someone else’s, anyone else that could have been there but had been mistaken for Katarina, but I couldn’t.
