It had healed in only a matter of minutes, and I couldn’t help but believe that it had something to do with the child that was growing inside of me.“Did you do this?” I asked, smiling as I patted my stomach softly.As if giving me a response, there was another kick, much heavier this time.I stood up, still finding little strength in myself to keep going, no matter how hard it would prove to be. EMILIA POV“We need to leave,” I said as I grabbed Lucas by his arm and looked around for an exit that didn’t consist of going through the front door. “Is there any other way to get out?”“What if we’re running for nothing? Let’s go check out what’s happening first,” he suggested, but I had a feeling that whatever was happening was not great, and we were in great danger.“She has to be here, somewhere! Go inside and bring her out!”I gasped at the voice of the person who had made the loud command – Seth. And there was only one person that he was desperate to catch; me.“Quick, get out through that door. I’ll hold them off for you,” Lucas said, pushing me towards a door in the kitchen that led into the darkness of the night and the dark forests.“What about you? What if they attack you?”I heard the front door burst open, and Lucas took no time to wait and explain one thing. EMILIA POV“What is going on here, Beta Seth?” Lucas demanded, pulling me to stand behind him.“Alpha Lucas,” Seth acknowledged with a slight bow of his head. “As much as I would like to chat with you and catch up, there’s a lot for me to settle with Emilia here. I refuse to have any business with you, even after you attacked me last night and left me for dead.”“You forget that Emilia is a member of my pack now,” Lucas reminded him. “If you have business with her that requires you to take her away from me or my pack, you need my permission.”Seth chuckled, not feeling threatened in the least.“You also seem to have forgotten where you just ran away from. EMILIA POV After Seth’s surprising announcement, Lucas and I glanced at each other, silently communicating. I gave him an apologetic look, and he blinked slowly at me to assure me that it would be fine. “You will let me speak to my sister, won’t you?” Lucas asked Seth as he turned towards us and made to lead us towards the dungeon. “Only if I feel like it, you traitor,” Seth replied, using his hands to signal for his soldiers to take us to the dungeon. “They must be kept in the same cell,” he instructed the soldier. “Find the smallest one of them all and put them both in it. It’ll give them enough time to think about why they shouldn’t have done what they did, especially the one who once called himself an Alpha.” Seth took one last look at Lucas and shook his head in disappointment as he said, “This was never worth it in the first place, and I hope you see that now.
