After realizing who I am, they appeared shocked and turned pale. Placing the folder behind me, I directed my attention to the mayor and the manager.

"Who wants to explain this, hmm? If I'm seen as a money-grabbing businessman, then why did I receive an email last week about this issue that I apparently ignored?" I said.

The manager looked at me, seemingly ready to fabricate lies. "Chairwoman, this isn't what it seems! We've been understaffed and busy for months. That's why the workers who should have been dealing with the waste ended up working in the factory," he defended.

I gave him a disapproving look. "That's the most pathetic excuse I've ever heard. If you think I'm like other business owners who ignore such matters, you're mistaken. I never overlook issues like this, especially when human lives are at stake. Your feeble excuses won't deceive me, Owen. Not to someone like me!"
