Chapter 5. New Thirst

Michael and Jake go to Horus Tech Corporation, which is where Vincent works at. A number of witnesses will be questioned about the murder of the company's CEO. People who work for Chadler Donovan, like Heather Meadow, are the first ones to be questioned.

Heather looked very sad about her boss's death. Her eyes were puffy, and her nose was red. Heather cried because she felt sad that her boss had left her.

“Shall we begin, Miss Meadow?” asked Detective Mike Emerson. Heather nodded. They were provided with a meeting room that was not that big to ask several people.

“Do you know Vincent James Cox? The IT senior who was fired a week ago, "Mike started his question. Jake sat in the same room, a little away from the table his friend was using. He folded his legs and wrote down the necessary things in his book.

"Yes, I know him," replied Heather in a low tone.

“How close?”

"Not even close. We only ate lunch together a few times." Heather answered without much thought.

"What are you talking about?" Mike's eyes moved toward Heather. His job was to read the witness's body language.

"It's not important."

"Then why do you want to meet him for lunch?" Are you two just talking for no reason?" She pursed her lips and said "yes."

"That's about it." Heather still didn't care about Vincent and didn't want to talk about him.

"What do you think about Vincent Cox's looks?" Who or what has he been in Horus the whole time?" The next question was also asked by Mike.

"No. He seems like a normal guy to me. He has an old-fashioned look and looks like a student. I also don't like the perfume he wears. Ew, that smells bad." Heather shook a little in disgust as she talked, and Mike nodded again.

"Then what kind of perfume do you like?"

"Like what Mr. Chad Donovan has. Strong and stylish." Mike gave another nod. Even though Mike had a good idea of how close his boss and secretary were, he didn't want to make assumptions.

"Did Vincent ever send threats after being fired?" Heather turned her head.

Heather asked, looking interested in the murder case all of a sudden, "Is Vincent the killer?"

“For now, only Vincent Cox is a suspect."So if there is any additional information about his whereabouts, it would be very helpful to us," Mike answered, still looking at Heather. Heather seemed to be starting to become interested, even though previously she had been indifferent.

“I don't know where he is. But have you ever contacted his family?" Heather moved her position slightly closer to the detective who was interrogating her.

“Vincent Cox's only remaining family is his stepfather, while his mother is dead. They haven't seen each other in a long time; his dad is now in Dallas."

“If that's the case, I'm sure that Vincent Cox killed Mr. Donovan. He hates Mr. Donovan because he was fired." Actually, Mr. Donovan wanted to keep Vince, but this was his second mistake." Heather began to complain, which made her statement a little more interesting.

"Do you think his motive was just hatred?" Heather nodded right away, without thinking.

"Okay, what else? He doesn't have any skills. So it makes sense that he was fired. He is very wrong to think that this company should keep him. He can only get back at them.”

"Can you explain to me what kind of work Vincent Cox has done so far?"

Vincent took a quick breath and looked at himself in the store window mirror. He didn't even like the way his face felt. Vincent quickly walked back to his car near the small market because he was scared. Vincent's poor car got a ticket and was towed by the cops for not parking properly.

"Damn it!" Vincent spoke as he looked to the left and right. He needed to get back to his flat by bus right away and move. Vincent tried not to sit near the window once he found the bus so that he wouldn't be in strong sunlight. That part of his body that wasn't covered by clothes, like his hands, hurt a lot.

The skin on his hands also became paler and scarier. When Vincent was confused, he kept putting his hand over his nose a few times. He could smell something very strange and strong. He also became able to hear better. He could even hear people talking behind him.

An individual in the front seat, who was not close to Vincent but could be heard, said, "If the old man won't hand over his wallet, just stab him!" Vincent turned around and saw two guys who seemed to be planning on mugging another passenger near them.

Vincent started to doubt. He turned to Kyron, who looked at him and smiled. For a moment, Vincent stared at Kyron's innocent face and beautiful blue eyes. For some reason, Vincent hugged Kyron, who leaned his head against his chest.

Vincent's eyes continued to stare forward at the two men. As soon as they got off, Vincent came down too. While carrying Kyron, Vincent stopped in the middle of his journey home.

The two men followed an old man using a cane who was walking on the sidewalk. It seemed like he wanted to walk home after taking the bus. As soon as he arrived at the end of the alley, one of the men immediately pointed a knife at the old man while threatening him.

“Give me your wallet!” yelled the pickpocket. The old man was scared, but he just shook his head.

The other man pushed something out of the old man's jacket pocket and said, "Ahk, give it to me!"

"Don't let me go! Help!!" The thieves were robbing an old man, and he fought hard to get away from them.

Vincent didn't say anything and didn't move. He wondered why he was suddenly there. What was he really aiming for? Does he want to help, or is he just passing by?

“Aahkk, let go! Or I will kill you!” the thief said again. However, it turned out that the old man fought with his stick, which made the knife cut the thief's hand.

Even though the old man yelled, "Don't take my wallet!" the two thieves were able to take his money, even though his arms were cut up. They rushed to get to Vincent.

Vincent frowned in surprise because the two men were running, but he saw it as a slow scene like in a movie. As soon as he smelled the blood that made him gulp, Vincent stretched out his hand so it hit one of the pickpockets. While one leg was blocking the other, both of them fell to their knees.

Vincent put Kyron, who he was carrying, on the sidewalk. Then he dragged the two men easily, like trash bags.

“Aah, who are you? Let me go!" both of them screamed, overwhelmed by Vincent's strong strength. The old man who was robbed was confused when Vincent took the two pickpockets into the alley next to them. Vincent threw them both near the trash can until they fell.

“Fuck! Do not interfere!" one of them attacked Vincent, but he quickly dodged it, then turned around, twisted his arm, and threw him against the wall. Meanwhile, his friend, who also wanted to attack, was kicked by Vincent until his body flew and was thrown far away until he fainted from hitting the wall.

The man yelled, "Let me go!" as he tried to get away from Vincent. Vincent could no longer keep himself, though. It let both of its fangs show when it opened its mouth wide. His head tilted naturally, and all of a sudden he bit the man hard on the neck to draw blood from him.

"AAAHHKK!"
