"Kelsie, would you mind if we drop by a restaurant to have some dinner?" he spoke calmly. I stilled because I didn't know what to say.
"Dinner?" I asked him back with furrowed brows in confusion.
"Yeah," he confirmed. I wanted to refuse but when I thought of my plan, I realized that would be a good opportunity. Besides, I felt famished listening to my professor.
"Alright," I replied like a whisper and I saw him suppressed a smile before we drove off.
“I know a restaurant around here that you will love,” he started a conversation and I just nodded at him.
“How’s your class? Are you not having a hard time dealing with work and studies?" He sounded normal like talking to a friend. Honestly, the personality that I was seeing greatly puzzled me.
I cleared my throat “I’m used to it, Mr. Davis," I replied shortly but decided to elaborate a bit. "I need to work hard to earn a degree for a better future".
“I admire you for that,” he talked comfortably. My heart pulsated fast and narrowed my eyes at his response. "Are we friends or something?" the question popped on my mind in disbelief.
"Thank you, Mr. Davis," was the only thing I said because I couldn't find any other words to say.
He breathed out heavily "Call me Brent from now on," he sounded normal. I was hesitant to say yes but able to nod at him in return.
I lost track of our travel time when I realized his car halted in front of a Hotel. Not only an ordinary hotel but a luxury one. He immediately stepped out and handed his keys to the valet attendant. Truth be told, it was my first time to experience dining in a luxurious restaurant. I was hoping I won't embarrass myself in front of him.
“Good evening Mr. Davis” One of the attendants greeted formally before she guided us to our table. It was an Italian restaurant Pasta Infuriata located at the third level of the place.
“Let’s order first” he announced when we were seated across each other and the attendant quickly handed us the menu book.
"Order everything you want. I've proven all the dishes are good," he said after telling the attendant that he will get his usual. I had no idea what were those dishes on the menu because I could barely read them all. I just pointed the picture to her because I might pronounce it wrongly. I ordered only one from the list but Brent added some dessert and a glass of red wine for me.
“I guess you've been here a lot of times. It looks like all of the staff knows you” I said as soon as we were left alone.
He hummed “My friend Simon Vasquez owns this restaurant," he informed and added that Simon is also the chef. Oftentimes he visits him to catch up.
“Wow, impressive!” I murmured and noticed his brows furrowed at my reaction but I chose to ignore it.
I shifted my gaze and sighted a man in a chef uniform who was smiling widely approaching our table. “Davis, man what brought you here” he was grinning and happy to see him.
“And who is this beautiful lady? I’m Simon,” He winked at me before offering for a handshake. He seemed a joyful person, opposite of Brent’s attitude.
Before I could reach for his hand “No touching Vasquez!” Brent interrupted and I even heard him hiss.
“Damn Davis, I never thought you could be this possessive, huh? Simon chuckled and shook his head.
“This is my secretary, Kelsie Miller,” Brent's swift introduction. “Stop hitting on her,” he added but Simon didn’t mind. Instead, he playfully turned to me “Order anything you want Honey, everything's on me,” and winked again. I saw Brent gritted his teeth while looking furiously at Simon.
“If stares could kill, I might be in the coffin right now,” said Simon who couldn't stop himself from teasing Brent.
"A piece of advice - please have a lot of patience for this grumpy man!" Simon laughed and it made me laughed too though Brent was a bit pissed. “Chill man! Anyway, enjoy dinner with your girl," and turned his back to go to the kitchen.
“Stop smiling at Simon,” Brent sounded serious.
“What? Simon seems nice and friendly,” I responded and realized I was retaliating.
“Don't resist, Kelsie," he was moody. I raised my left brow at him and waved at the waiter to serve me another glass of water because I felt thirsty dealing with his mood swings.
A minute later, our orders were served and we started to dig in silently. No one dared to talk and I focused on my food. I was famished and I had no energy left to argue with him.
Honestly, he was right that the dishes are good. I regretted having only one order. I laughed at my mind. Foolish!
"Eat your dessert," he pushed the plate towards me and I complied. I did not care if I looked bizarre eating like I was deprived of a whole week's meal. Well, no one would blame me, the foods were indeed delicious. I enjoyed all of them.
When we were done, he raised his hand for the bill but as per the attendant, everything is on Chef Simon. He reached for his wallet and pulled a 100$ bill tip. I could see how happy she was, of course, it was good money.
When we reached the outside of the hotel, his car was already there and the valet attendant handed him the keys back but not before giving him a 50$ tip. Whoa! Indeed, Brent is a generous person. Anyways, it's nothing compared to the billions of dollars that he has.
I rested my head on the car headrest because I felt sleepy. Maybe because of the wine I drunk after the meal as I'm not used to it. I closed my eyes and didn’t realize I drifted to sleep.
I felt a warm hand caressing my face and when I opened my eyes, I met Brent’s hypnotizing stares. His face was just an inch away from mine.
“You’re home, Baby,”
That moment in his car was unforgettable. I couldn’t fathom why he acted that way. As I recalled that night, I got out of his car without saying anything. My heart was beating too fast as if it's going out of my rib and my head was spinning because of uneasiness. Maybe I was bewildered the moment I heard him say the word "Baby". Or am I dreaming that night? I was stupid! I felt embarrassed because I wasn’t able to say thank you to him for the dinner treat and for driving me home. Yeah, I was ungrateful. The next day, I wanted to apologize for the way I acted that night but he did not arrive in the office. Based on his schedule, he doesn’t have any meetings or events scheduled on that day. I thought it was something personal. On a Saturday, I attended my least favorite subject. I felt so lazy and not in high spirits. No matter how much I tried to erase him in my mind, I couldn't. “Focus Kelsie, you need to stick on your plan,” my mind kept on r
I was quite occupied by a lot of books I needed to read and study. It was necessary to finish reviewing all because of my schedule at work. My course required a lot of readings, writing pleadings, as well as researching facts, issues, and legal basis in a certain case. I felt thankful that no Brent barged my Sunday. I couldn’t think of any idea about my next step in revenge every time he’s near me. On a Monday, I was rushing towards the elevator as I don’t want to be late on the first day of the week. I was about to enter the lift when I accidentally bumped into a man holding a cup of coffee. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to..." I couldn’t finish my sentence because of too much tension. I kept on wiping his shirt and the coffee stain spread awfully. “Ms. It’s okay. It was an accident,” he smiled at me and my brows furrowed in wonderment. I couldn't believe he did not get angry with me. I looked at his face and I find him handsome. A dimple was vi
True to his words, Brent took me home that day. Days passed but still, I was confused about his treatment with me. On a Saturday, I invited Aira and Hailey to Santa Monica Place. Been a while since the three of us had our bond. Studies and work occupied us that we seldom see each other. The three of us are in the same year but with different courses. Aira chose to take Finance because figures are her piece of cake. Hailey opted to take Fashion Designs and evidently, she loves to dress a lot. From choosing her shoes to her hair, she has this sense of fashion after all, and her course suits well with her personality. “Kelsie my friend!” I heard a high-pitch voice and could recognize her even with my eyes closed. I was surprised when she dyed her hair blue-green and she looked good in it. Her skin became brighter because it complimented her hair color. “Wow, grassy hair!" I teased and suppressed a laugh. “I hate you, Kelsie! I thought you’re my f
After a month, I could say that every day was bliss for me. Brent became clingy since that night he confessed his feelings. I recalled how he kissed me passionately that I couldn't help but moan as his lips dominated my small cavern. I felt like floating in the air because of how high he took me with those kisses. My desk was transferred inside his office and it's convenient because he doesn’t need to call me thru the intercom. It was nearly three o’clock in the afternoon and I got nothing to do since Brent was out for a meeting for the expansion of the restaurant. I decided to get my phone and took selfies to kill the boredom. I browsed for some of my old photos and a lot of memories flashed in my mind. I saw a picture of dad and me which was taken during my 15th birthday. We were so happy back then, my dad was my hero. He showered me with so much love and provided everything I needed growing up. However, those things vanished the moment he
I stilled and felt like my hands were sweating when our gaze met. "Damn, I knew it! She's not pleased to see his son with me. I’m just a nobody," a lot of thoughts bothered me inside. She grinned “Kelsie, you’re so pretty! My son does a taste in choosing his girl," she sounded lively. Frankly, I was astounded by her reaction. I was stunned when she pulled me for a hug. “Mom, stop squeezing her,” Brent hissed and his mom shrugged it off. I heard him clucked his tongue “I haven't introduced her yet and you couldn't stop yourself away from her,” and complained. A smirk was printed on his face as he shook his head. When his mom pulled out from the hug “Kelsie, I'm sorry for being rude. I'm Natalia Veronica," she smiled and I reciprocated with the same level of enthusiasm. “I’m happy to finally meet you, dear," she was thrilled. “I’m pleased to meet you also, Mrs. Davis,” I replied softly. “Call me mom,” she gripped my arm and s
When I got out of the bathroom, I saw Brent at the balcony talking to someone on the phone. He was on his sweatpants and fitted white shirt that defines his strong muscles. He looked so divine! In front of his dresser, I dried my hair and applied cream for my skin before hopping on the bed. I waited for him and when I saw him closing the sliding door "Work?" I asked. “It's Zach inviting us for a drink tomorrow night," He informed and joined me on the bed. "Asher and Zeus will bring their wives, so you won't get unease,” He right away scooped me to cuddle and I loved the feeling. "Where are we going?" I furrowed. "At Zach's club," he replied. “Club? What to wear in a club?” I was perturbed. When he sensed my reaction “Don’t worry, I’ll handle that," he whispered and I breathed out. “Hmmm, okay,” I murmured sleepily. I nuzzled on his chest and I felt comfortable. “Goodnight, baby,” He kissed my temple and hugged me tightly. “Night,”
Brent introduced his friends to me one by one before we settled on our seats. The first one who approached us was Hunter Ross. Yes, his broad shoulders are assets but he's less compared to Brent. Of course, I'm biased. Insane! The rests are Andrew Smith, Zach Linch, and Asher Johnson- who happened to be the co-owner of the club. They are undeniably good-looking men and their charms are irresistible. The two ladies are Amanda -Asher’s wife and Celine -Zach's wife. Both of them are elegant and sophisticated. Celine is a petite lady with a sweet face. She’s like a living Barbie doll with her long eyelashes, pouty lips, and a dimple in her right cheek that added to her appeal. Amanda has a seductive look plus a body with a perfect curve and you could tell she’s a model. “Hi Kelsie, finally! Someone melted the heart of the ruthless man,” Amanda asserted and offered me to sit with them. “Well, we can’t blame him. You’re indeed gorgeous,” Celine adde
It was nearly ten in the morning when we reached Sa’Mare – the name of the resort and Brent told me that it means- paradise in the sea. The resort is open exclusively for members only. Most of them are elites who can afford to have a vacation in a luxury place. I felt elevated when I saw the pristine water and felt the breeze of the sea. Brent mentioned that there are lots of amenities around to enjoy. Brent insisted that we stay in his villa while his parents chose to stay in the hotel suite. Most of their modern type villa is made of glass and it looked splendid. The architect has a great talent because of his creations and fantastic designs. We entered our one-bedroom villa with a spacious living and dining room. I wondered how on earth such fortunate people can own a resort and properties. How to be them? Blessed! I was busy roaming inside when I felt two arms wrapped around my waist. “Did you like it?” Brent whispered
