DEAL WITH THE SLAVCAN PRINCE II

Morat was outside waiting. He wondered what Brenna was up to. He immediately started regretting why he agreed to help her in the first place.

Meanwhile, in the courtroom, Brenna had started her game already.

“Yes, she is pregnant and as her mother, I have given her necessary punishments”, Brenna stated.

“You couldn’t even take care of the Slavcan’s prince betrothed. Do you think the Tamars will get away with it?”, Valen said casually.

That statement alone sent shivers down her spine.

“But you claimed you loved her and chose her out of the many princesses you could easily get”, Brenna started, “You surely won’t let her slip from your grasp”.

“Yes, I was intrigued by the stories I heard about her. The warrior princess. But I won’t marry her with another man’s child growing in her. I won’t marry her with the stupid man alive either”, he said with a low tone.

“I will make sure that baby dies in her womb if you still want to marry her and I will make sure I find the father of the baby. As naïve as she is, many men would want to take advantage of her knowing fully well that she is a princess. I am sure she didn’t mean whatever happened”, Brenna said.

“I wonder why you’re so hell-bent on getting her married to me, Tamar Queen”, he stated with amusement on his face.

Brenna chuckled awkwardly, “We’re royalty and we are all politicians, we know how this works. I am here on behalf of my husband too”, she lied, “We want a marriage alliance with you and we promise to work on your terms. We’d rather be on your side than be against you. I wonder who will be foolish enough to not want to be in your good graces”, Brenna praised Valen.

Valen smiled, “Make sure the situation is under control and get back to me in 2 days through a letter preferably”, he said and stood up, “It is late, you must go back to your land this instant”. He left and Morat entered immediately.

“What did you two talk about?”, he asked, “And why did you  send me out?”

Brenna immediately started walking to the door with him following closely behind, “We are getting late uncle, let’s talk about everything once we arrive at the Tamar lands”.

“I doubt we will make it before dawn though but let’s try”, Morat replied.

At the Tamar land, Kaliyah was staring at the gate wondering why the queen was not here yet. Earlier, Kenna had lied to her father that the queen was unwell. Kaliyah just smiled when she heard the lie, she had seen the queen sneak out so she knew it was a lie. She hoped the queen was caught. While she was staring at the gate through her window, her mind wandered to the dragon she was pregnant for. She wondered how everything would go. She’s rather get married to a dragon than follow her father’s wish for her to get married to the Slavcan prince.

Brenna on the other hand, arrived at the Tamar lands with Morat at dawn and didn’t escort him to his house. She bid him goodbye and immediately rode to the castle. Her husband would surely check on her if she missed breakfast as well.

Soon, she arrived at the castle’s second gate and met her maid waiting for her there already.

“My queen, I was so worried. You spent the night outside the castle walls!”, her maid exclaimed in shock like she still couldn’t believe that Brenna did it.

“Just return my horse and come and assist me to get ready for breakfast. Remember, nobody must find out”, Brenna warned and started walking towards her room. On her way, Kaliyah met her.

“Good morning Queen”, Kaliyah greeted, “And welcome. Must be nice spending the night outside this prison for once”, she smirked.

Brenna stood frozen, “What… what do you mean?”, she stuttered.

“Nothing, get ready for breakfast and do not raise any matter about my pregnancy or I will talk about what you did”, Kaliyah said, “Let’s help each other like mother and daughter” and then she added a wink and walked away.

Brenna let out a frustrated sigh and walked hurriedly to her room, ignoring all the greetings she was receiving on the way to her room. She was sure her plans will work, she was sure that she had convinced the Slavcan Prince to make sure he got married to Kaliyah but she was scared. She wondered how Kaliyah found out that she was not in the castle last night. If the king found out, she would be in trouble. The kind of trouble she didn’t want right now.

She met Kenna in her room when she entered.

“Mother! Where on earth were you all night?”, Kenna asked with a worried expression.

“I went to make sure Kaliyah gets married to the Slavcan prince, you do not have to worry about that anymore. Leave so I can get ready for breakfast”, Brenna said slowly. She was supposed to be happy about what she was able to achieve but Kaliyah successfully dampened her mood.

“We’ll talk later”, Kenna said and left. She noticed that her mother was not in a good mood, she was not ready to get on her bad side this morning.

Not long after Kenna left, her maid entered.

“I want you to do something for me in the most discreet way possible”, she turned to her maid, “The physician has ordered that Kaliyah drinks the Shaman’s herbal mixtures every morning. I want you to slip something inside the drink Kaliyah will take this morning”.

Her maid immediately fell on the ground to plead, “Please my queen, you can’t possibly be planning to kill her”.

Brenna rolled her eyes, “Not to kill her but the baby”.
