If I lost you

Caden’s POV

We searched everywhere for Maeve, but after a very long time, we found her in the woods. She was on the ground shaking like a leaf. We took her back home, and we called Yola, but despite everything Yola tried, Maeve did not get better. Instead, she got worse.

“Why is this happening?” I asked, not really expecting an answer, as I placed my hand on Maeve’s hot skin.

Her face had become pale, and her lips were dried and cracked. She was looking like a shadow of herself and I just couldn’t figure out what to do.

“We need to figure out something fast. If Erik sees her like this…” Yola said as she paced up and down the room.

“Why is only Erik’s feelings being put in consideration here? Caden and I also care about Maeve,” Leon said, but he didn’t sound bitter or angry, he sounded curious.
