Two to One

Maeve’s POV

I woke up feeling different. Something had changed in me, I could feel it. I felt like my old self again and all my bitterness and hatred was gone. As my eyes lazily opened, I sneezed twice, wrinkling my nose as I sat up.

“Maeve? Maeve?" I heard someone say, but my vision was still a little blurry.

“Guys, she’s alive!” I heard another person say as I blinked repeatedly.

“Faye?” I said, looking at my friend who I hadn’t seen for a while. Faye closed her mouth with her palms as tears welled in her eyes. Before I could say anything, she hugged me so tightly, saying, “I knew you wouldn’t die, I just knew you’d make it!”

“What happened?” I asked when she released me.

“I was told that you were sick and that you wouldn’t make it. We all came to say our goodbyes, but I came with some flowers I thought you might like, with hopes that you would wake up when you perceive their fragrance,” Faye said, while the other woman with her nodded.
