"Am here to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage Sir"

The whole house fell silent, I must have heard wrong, he wanted to get married to who? My eyes went to Kelly, whose face curled up in a cruel smile as our eyes met.

Mom was just walking in with a plate of cookies when she heard the word “marriage”.

“Wait what?”, Mom retorted, looking stunned and confused at the same time. “ uh…uhmm”, she stuttered, “you see, our daughter Kaylee is a very beautiful girl yunno, she’s obedient, smart, and also…

“Accept my apologies Ma’am, but you don’t seem to get what I meant”. Daniel interrrupted her, “I am here to ask for Kelly’s hand in marriage, Mr Parker”, Daniel said, referring to Kelly’s father.

Parker stood in awe, knowing not what to say. He was flushed with amazement all over his face.

“How?, why?, when?, I mean how did you two even meet”, Kaylee questioned, She was bewildered. “How did you even get to know this bit…, I mean Kelly?”. Kaylee asked sharply.

Daniel looked at her with resentment. Ignoring her question, he turned back to face Kelly’s father who was now smiling. “Mr. Parker, I wish to hear your consent over what I just said, sir. Daniel said to Kelly’s dad, looking at him and waiting for a response.

“Well Mr. Vuitton,” Parker spoke, “you see we have two daughters. And with their names sounding alike, I hope to believe that you meant to pronounce “Kaylee”, and not “Kelly”. but if it is Kelly that you want to marry then it is perfectly fine by me.

“But dad you…”, Kaylee was about talking when her dad looked at her with dagger eyes, causing her to shut up. 

“Do not mind my daughter’s rudeness, Mr Vuitton”, Parker said, glaring at his daughter. “She’s still too little to understand”.

Daniel smiled, he walked towards Mr. Parker and they both shook hands. He turned to Kelly who was mute all the while, enjoying the scenario. 

“would’nt you want to say something Kelly?”, her Mum said, giving her looks that could snipe her out if she had the chance.

Kelly became tensed. Everybody’s eyes were now on her, waiting for her response. Kelly knew very well not to show her weakness in front of her family and most especially her sister who was obviously staring at her infuriatingly. She smiled and said,

“Well Mom, I don’t seem to have what to say, my to-be husband has said everything on my behalf”. She looked at Kaylee’s face and smiled, intensifying the anger in her.

Daniel looked at Kelly with amusement. Something about her referring to him as her to-be husband just made him smile. He turned to Mr. Parker,

“Thank you sir, the preparation will be made known to you as soon as possible.”, Daniel said to Parker and greeted everyone for the last time before walking out of the house with Kelly following behind.

As soon as they drove off, Kaylee busted out in anger, shouting at her dad for agreeing to the marriage. Her dad slapped her, retorting back for her foolish behaviour.

“Don’t you get it dear?, he hissed at Kelly, “We are going to be in-laws with a Billionaire. With Kelly in the Vuitton’s house, we stand a chance of becoming rich. Use your head my daughter. You should better start creating a bond with your foolish sister , make friends with her for your own benefits”, Parker said and

laughed devilishly
