Chapter 4

Author's POV

Chase was staring at the ceiling of his bedroom when alarm goes off in his phone telling him it’s morning.

He couldn’t sleep a wink the whole night, again. It’s starting to get so common now that it doesn’t even bother him anymore.

His insomnia is getting worse with every passing day.

But surprisingly the reason why he was not able to sleep last night or almost for last three nights is not his regular nightmares, to which he has now gotten accustomed.

This time the reason is certain someone whose ocean blue eyes have somehow managed to held his heart, his mind and his body captive.

No matter what he tries to do, he is not able to take her out of his mind. Even after telling himself that him staying away from her is best for both of them, her as well as him.

He tried drowning himself in his work, which actually is the most important thing in his life.

He tried numbing his senses by drinking, if it could help him in keeping the thoughts of Cara away from his mind.

He even tried banging few nameless chicks to distract his mind and most importantly his body which is craving her and only her touch.

He turned his face to his side and saw a blonde laying on his bed beside him, wearing only her underwear.

He closed his eyes while rubbing his forehead when last night’s scene came rushing back to his mind.

After drinking, he doesn’t even know how many glasses of beer and whiskey with John and George, he entered into his room and saw this blonde sitting on his bed, just in under garments.

To seduce him and It worked too.

But just before things could get heated, those blue orbs flashed in front of his eyes and he froze. He just couldn’t continue after that even after all the tricks this blonde used to turn him on, but nothing worked.

He told the girl to go away as he lied down on his bed closing his eyes in futile attempt to sleep, but those innocent ocean blue orbs kept bothering him.

It’s as if she is clutching him tightly with her innocence.

He doesn’t even remember when this blonde again came into his bedroom and slept beside him. Or did she never leave? he really doesn’t know.

He pushed himself off of the bed still rubbing his forehead to soothe the constant headache he has due to lack of sleep.

He made his way into the bathroom to freshen up for the day while thinking of the ways to spend the day without going to college.

He has never been a person who likes attending every classes so most of the times he just doesn’t do them.

About attendance requirements and anything else, he really doesn’t care. And anyways who is going to go against the monster himself and most importantly the mayor’s son.

He has been passing all of the subjects with decent scores until now so that he doesn't have to repeat the same year and that is what matters to him.

Another reason why he doesn’t want to go to college is Cara. He just wants to avoid her for as long as he can because he has a feeling that something really troubling is going to happen if he hangs around her.

He came out after taking a shower when he saw John his best friend sitting on his bed. The blonde is not in the room anymore. He knew John must have sent her away because he knows Chase doesn’t like anyone sleeping in his bed.

Chase started dressing in his usual outfit. Dark ripped jeans, white figure fitting t-shirt which he knows leaves girls drooling over his hot body, and black leather jacket.

At the same time John started talking with him about some random stuff and joking around, being his usual self which according to Chase is really annoying.

Once he was done dressing John dropped the fun and his features turned to serious one in a matter of seconds as he said, “We need to go to college and take care of that bastard”.

Chase’s jaw clenched as he said, “We have everything ready, right?” to which John nodded while balling his palms into fists.

“Let’s go and put some sense into his f**ked up head then” Chase said and both of them made their way out of the room and found George who was waiting in living room.

With a final nod all three of them walked out of the car to complete their unfinished work.

.................................................................

“Not you Cara, you stay here” his voice boomed in the room and Cara’s steps halted.

She gulped visibly as she turned halfway to stare into Sapphire’s scared eyes before turning around completely to come face to face with him.

‘Now don’t you want to drown in depths of those orbs?’ her inner self mocked reminding her about the thoughts she was having about him.

She was a little scared and it was a normal reaction for anyone who stands like this in the spotlight of his burning gaze.

But for some reason she is not as much scared as she was three days ago. Maybe it was that soft look in his eyes for her a minute ago or something else, but she just had a feeling he won’t hurt her.

“You go Sapphire” he said still keeping his gaze fixed on her face and now it caused her heartbeat to rise a little more.

‘Is he going to beat me up like the Max guy?’

‘What are you thinking Cara? Weren’t you the one who was sure a minute ago that he won’t hurt you?’ her subconscious mind reminded.

Her emotions were all over the place at the moment.

Sapphire left but not before squeezing her hand lightly and giving her an apologetic look.

Cara stood there glued to her place, eyes still locked with his. She doesn’t know from where she got this courage to keep eyes locked with him and why staring into those smokey gray eyes made her feel less scared.

He started walking towards her once they were left alone, stopping a step away in front of her.

This was the first time that she took in each and every feature of him. The first thought that came to her mind was that he was hot and very.. gorgeous, if you can describe him like that.

He was almost 6’4 tall, way too tall in front of her 5’6 body. He had a very masculine body which was trying to bulge out of the tight fitted t-shirt that he was wearing. He is not wearing his leather jacket right now which let her have a look on his bare forearms.

She doesn’t know why but she thought he would be covered in blue and black ink everywhere but by the looks of him, it feels like he does not have a tattoo.

He has a dark black hair and chiseled jawline which could even pass as best jawline of the country along with defined cheekbones.

His smokey gray eyes were the most beautiful eyes she has ever seen in her life, which actually remind her of someone.

He was hands down definition of sexy.

“Didn’t I tell you not to come in front of my eyes? Did you forget my warning already?” he asked in cold tone bringing her out of her fantasy world.

She didn’t say anything and kept staring into his eyes trying to see through the depths of those orbs.

Getting impatient he took a step closer and said with gritted teeth, “What did I tell you how I feel about repeating myself?”

She tried taking a step away as there was practically no space between them but his hand reached to wrap around her waist and pulled her back to where she was standing before. Her body again tingled because of his touch.

He was starting to get angry now as he repeated “What did I tell you about repeating….” He was cut off when she replied softly still staring into his eyes, “You don’t like repeating yourself”.

“Good, now answer my first question, did you forget about my warning?” he asked as the anger vanished from his tone but it was still cold.

“I didn’t forget about it. I remember” she replied as she looked away, his intense gaze was doing something to her. But he didn’t like it when she broke the eye contact, and it's effect was clear in his tone.

“Then you must remember that I told you to stay the f**k away from me” he growled at her face which even surprised him and she flinched a bit at his tone.

“I know…you told me to stay away but…I didn’t know you were here” she replied trying to keep her voice even as she again locked her eyes with him, it made him a little relaxed.

He pulled her closer causing a small gasp to escape her lips when her chest collided with his and he asked, “So you are saying that it’s my fault that we met again, huh?”

“No, no, that’s not what I meant. It isn’t anyone’s fault” she replied immediately.

She is so innocent, he thought.

“But someone needs to be held responsible so that we can decide on the punishment” he said and even he knew he wasn’t making any sense. But he just wanted to talk to her for a bit more.

She involuntarily bit her lips between her teeth showing she is nervous. His eyes followed the movement and he felt his d**k twitch in his pants.

F**k.

“Why is punishment needed when no one is at fault” she simply said with a small frown on her face and he found it adorable.

“Are you trying to lecture me?” he asked with a fake scowl on his face, somehow enjoying the different emotions that were flashing in her eyes and on her face, every other second.

“No! I wasn’t lecturing you” she said quickly in attempt to clear the misunderstanding and he just kept observing her reactions, enjoying every second of it.

He missed her touch, her intoxicating fragrance, her breath fanning his lips and everything about her.

Only he knows how he controlled himself for last three days from coming in front of her, to avoid scaring her.

But as he can notice she is not that scared of him right now. Instead her cheeks are covered in slight tint of pink.

‘Is she blushing? Is my closeness affecting her like hers is doing to me?’ he thought and a faint smile appeared on his lips surprisingly liking this colour on her face.

He lifted his free hand, desperately wanting to touch her pink cheeks but his hand halted just few inches away from her face when he remembered how she flinched away from his touch, the last time he tried to do the same thing.

But when she didn’t show any discomfort, he reached and cupped her face with one hand, softly caressing her cheek with his thumb. The touch was so soft that it shocked his own self because he never thought he could ever be this soft towards anyone.

Her blush deepened and she lowered her eyes but this time it didn’t anger him, instead her shy eyes caused his heart to flutter in his chest.

“You are blushing” he whispered.

“No, I am not” she said turning her face away from him to hide her blush. But he put a little pressure around her neck so that she is staring right into his eyes. He just kept staring at her face.

The bell ringed indicating there are only five minutes left before the class starts and both of them came out of the trance that they were in. But he still didn’t let her go, enjoying the feeling of her soft body against his hard one.

She realized that she is standing way too close to him for her own liking.

“I am getting late for the class” she whispered softly not wanting to make him angry.

He didn’t say anything and just kept staring into her eyes and now he saw the fear that was starting to take over her features.

After few seconds he let her go, instantly missing the touch, he took few steps away from her. As soon as he let go, she released a breath that even she didn’t know she was holding.

She turned around to leave and he just kept staring at her back with a ghost of a smile playing on his lips.

She was at the end of the room when he decided to turn around and leave but his eyes widened and he felt a flip in his stomach when she turned around to stare back at him with a small smile dancing on her lips, before disappearing from his sight.

He wondered if it really happened or he just imagined it but the blush on her face and the pounding in his heart told him it was real.

And he could swear that it was the most beautiful sight one could ever witness. It was first time that he felt this happy in so many years and reason was simple.

She glanced back at him and that to with a smile on her lips.

He came out of his daze when John and George walked up to him. Both of them had mischievous smirk on their faces and Chase knew that he is screwed.

They are not going to leave him alone now.

.................................................................

Cara made her way to the class and she was glad that she was not late. She took her seat beside Sapphire and she asked, “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”

The concern was evident on her features and it reminded Cara that just few minutes ago she was alone with the infamous bully Chase Adams, which she kind of forgot when she was in his arms.

“I am okay and he didn’t hurt me” she replied quickly so that Sapphire won’t worry for her. She was about to ask something to Cara when teacher entered into the classroom.

Cara didn’t pay any attention in the class as her mind went back to her interaction with Chase and how she behaved so weirdly around him.

‘Shouldn’t you be scared around him? Didn’t you see him almost killing a student in the locker room right in front of your eyes. Yet instead of running away from him like you always do, you were enjoying his touch’ she asked herself.

She doesn’t know why she acted in such a way when she was with him. It was for the first time that she felt such kind of unfamiliar emotions. It was as if she was not in control of her own senses.

She even blushed.

Not only hers but even his behaviour towards her was as weird.

‘Does he have feelings for me?’ She thought but instantly shook her head to remove the idea from her mind.

‘He is a bully Cara. You might be his next target' she told herself and even the idea of being the target of most vicious bully is dangerous.

‘Why was he being that way towards me earlier? Does he have ulterior motive? Does he want to hurt me because I offended him three days ago or want to get back at me because I stood against him and his friends to save Aria?’ there were so many questions in her mind which were making her go insane.

She decided to just meet him as soon as possible and clear the misunderstanding. She want to talk and apologize to him if she offended him in any kind of way.

Because she doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feeling, not even by mistake. She doesn’t want to get on anyone’s bad side, and definitely not on The Infamous Chase Adams’.
