“Yes, please…” Kat whispered, her voice not wanting to come out of her.

The Demon King grinned and lunged forward, scooping an arm around Kat’s waist and dragging her round and up onto his lap. He placed a hand on top of her head sending a calming sleepy spell over her, making her compliant and still as she dropped back against his chest and looked up at him with a dreamy smile as he patted her and rubbed her ears like a pet.

Ruben lurched to his feet, his fists clenched and surrounded by a blue flame. “Let her go!”

The Demon King flicked his fingers, not even looking away from Kat’s dreamy expression and Ruben was sent flying back through the hall and crashing into one of the gigantic marble pillars, dropping like a stone to the floor.

He coughed blood,
