50: Zalakai

This was not what he had expected to happen.

Zalakai stood on the other side of the man-made cell in the basement of their community center. Nol was awake, yet unmoving from his position against the wall. The Demon looked utterly miserable and defeated, yet there was a strange glimmer of relief in his eyes. Perhaps it was due to the mark missing from his chest that he felt that sense of relief. No longer bound by the Dark Witch, Karmina.

"Oi." Her sweet voice drifted into his ears. "You better get up here." Rayleigh stated. "The King is about to go ape shit on your friend there if you don't intercede."

"Should I let him?" He asked her as he walked away from the cell. "He did try to kill his offspring."

"It's a good reason, but the Queen is finding the behavior offputting." Rayleigh mentioned as they went upstairs. "Nol had full intentions of killing Myra, yet managed to fight off Karmina's control instead."

"I believe I have a half of an answer to that theory." He stroked his ch
