Furball

Arya wondered why Amaris who was so passionate about letting her stare at him was now gazing out the school doors. Was he finally going to leave her alone? She thought.

"Sir Ama-", she wanted to call out to him but was silenced by Amaris's finger which if she could comment on, was equally beautiful.

"Someone is coming, Miss Arya. What do I do?" he muttered as he turned to face Arya, worry marred on his otherworldly face.

"What?" Arya asked. She didn't know why but she had said 'what' so many times today and Miss Elis won't be too happy with her sudden poor grammar skills.

"What do I do? You said I could die if I got caught. Please help me." Amaris pleaded for the nth time today. He didn't want to die yet much less in a foreign land.

"Uh…Okay. Hmm." Arya hummed in thought as she thought of a plan. Although she wanted him out of her sight she didn't want him dead, if anything he had been polite and sweet to her throughout their meeting, well excluding the scare he gave her at the beginning.

"Maybe you could hide somewhere.." she said scanning the hallway for any possible hideouts when she heard a voice coming from the school premises.

"Miss? Are you in there?"

The security?! Oh no! She had wondered where he previously ran off to.

It was pretty ironic though, few minutes ago she was desperately yelling, hoping to see him walk through the school doors but now she didn't want him to see her yet not in this state with a beast!

Because that would mean, him reporting Sir Amaris to the police from where he'll be sent to a lab and then she'd be on a stage, winning a nobel prize for helping to catch a beast.

No! She didn't want to cause his death or entrapment. So she grabbed the arms of Amaris who was hunched over and about to hide behind the staircase after hearing her suggestion.

Pulling him back to his feet, she said, "Change of plans. First, remove this blue bubble and second, do you know any spells that can make you disappear from here?"

She said that because if there was one thing she knew about her school's security, it was their strict scrutiny when anything was out of place. So hiding was not an option as Amaris would be snuffed out in minutes.

Amaris who felt Arya was trying to do away with him lied, "No I don't." he said with the most innocent face possible.

Arya was genuinely flabbergasted. Someone who could change his form with a spell didn't know how to disappear?

Wait, form!

"Okay then do you have any spells that can make you smaller than you are by 20 times?" she asked as she glanced outside. The footsteps were getting louder and with each step nearing towards the door, her heart beat was thumping twice as fast.

He was almost here.

"So? Do you have any?" she asked again impatiently when she didn't receive any response from Amaris.

When she didn't get any response from him, she forced him to kneel and was about stuffing him back into his hiding spot when the security ran in.

Thump! That was the sound of her heart crashing against the floor.

Raising his head to scan through the hallways, the security locked eyes with Arya squatting next to the stairways. Walking with hastened steps, he arrived next to Arya in no time.

"Miss? Are you alright?" The security asked when he arrived next to Arya, worry written all over his stubbed face. He had seen the lightning strike through one of the windows in the school but out of fear of a blazing fire outbreak, he ran out of the school gate.

He called the emergency toll line immediately and they told him to avoid the school grounds for a few minutes as there was a possibility of positive charges still being present on the school grounds. Which meant he could get struck by lightning!

He was still taking cover nearby when his mind brought Miss Elis's words from the back of his mind, "Good day sir. Sorry to disturb you but I'd like to inform you that three of my students, two male and one female would be staying later than usual to carry out cleaning duties. Sorry for any inconveniences this might cause. Goodbye." She said before strutting out of the school gate with the click clack of her high heels.

That was when it dawned on him that he had only seen two male students leave the school but not the female. Dread filled him when he thought of the possibility of a student being struck by lightning in school while he as the security had run for cover.

Hence, he ignored the warning over the phone and continued gingerly into the school. He could have run but he was still bothered by those positive charges the man over the phone warned him about.

He was relieved to see she was in one piece although a bit stupedied, probably from the scare of the lightning. Giving her a once over, he reached for her arm, pulled her up and directed her to a bench, "I'm so sorry for just turning up now miss but the emergency team are making their way here already. So you don't have to worry."

"Please wait here while I see the situation of things upstairs." The security said as he guided Arya to sit while he made his way up the stairs towards her classroom's floor.

Arya, stiff in place for fear of getting caught with a human who was in fact a beast, snapped her head towards the stairs that only had the receding shadow of the security while wondering,

'Where's the beast?'

She was sure she was holding his arm seconds ago, so where did he disappear to?

Hold on! Didn't that beast say he didn't know any spells that could make him disappear?! That sneaky deceitful beast!

But what did she expect? He was a beast for crying out loud! A beast! Why did she even think of assisting a beast to not get caught?

The nerve of that beast for begging her like his life depended on it when in fact it doesn't!

'Let me just get my hands on that-'she began raining cusses for the thousandth time today on the beast named Amaris who disappeared on her.

Today was definitely not a good day for her and it all began with her lending a helping hand to her classmate.

Was there anything wrong in doing that though? She didn't harm anyone yet she had encountered experiences today that made her feel like she was facing retribution for her evil deeds!

Or was she an evil witch in her past life? Was that why she was repaid like this?!

Arya was still imagining herself as an evil witch on a flying broom going on a killing rampage that she didn't notice a figure walking towards her stealthily.

The figure would stop to glance behind itself for a few seconds before it advanced further to reach Arya's foot.

Arya lost in her own world was brought out of her reverie when she felt something soft and silky touch her calf.

Sharply, she raised her head to find a ball of fur sitting right beside her. With a golden fur that looked so velvety despite its density, it had pointy triangular ears with insides that were a tint darker than its fur and long bushy tail.

What really intrigued her however was its blue eyes that was slanted slightly.

It looked like an adorable cat at first glance, but a blink was enough to ruin that illusion. With ears angled outwards and a snout that sat adorably on its little face, it instead looked more like a…wolf?

'So, maybe a Wolfcat?' Arya thought as he looked at the animal that sat beside her. She pondered what it was doing in her school.

Did it perchance belong to the security?

Considering that it belonged to the security, she reached her hand out to feel the velvety fur of the animal, throwing the past frustrations of the day out the window. It seemed she had an animal magnet on her today, she had been attracting animals a lot but at least this one was cute and soft too.

Like most people, Arya was a sucker for fluffy and cute animals.

Arya ran her hands through the fur of the animal while asking, "Hey cutie, are you looking for your owner? He's upstairs and will be back in a jiffy. Okay?"

She wasn't expecting any response so one could imagine her shock when she heard it speak.

"Miss Arya, it's me, Amaris."

"Holy-"
