CHAPTER 5

Gracia’s POV

“Did you see him? No, did you see how ignorant he was?” I questioned my father anxiously as my mother stepped in.

“I can’t marry that beast, father. He doesn’t even have respect for his in-law.” I informed him the truth that we noticed.

“Grace, what are you afraid of?” he called the short phrase of my name and I turned to him, letting go of all my insecurities.

“I just took leadership of what you want. I’m to shoulder your pack and not elope with a man. I don’t want to marry him, I want to lead.” I meticulously explained how I felt to my parents, my father exhaled heavily.

“Don’t you see that leadership is always and already with you?” his eyes were wide open, waiting for me to see what he must have seen.

“What do you mean?” I asked cryptically.

“Whether an Alpha in the Wind Scarlet pack or not, you will still end up as a leader if you marry him and become his Luna.” my father explained everything to me and I almost gasped.

I didn’t think that deep about that.

“Bur father, what about this pack? I don’t want to lose it.” I complained bitterly and he smirked.

“It will only be greed if you don’t let it go,” he said.

“Let it go? To whom? For who?” I questioned impatiently.

“All the Betas are hawks.” I began.

“I don’t mean I’m the best for this position but they are waiting for this situation in order to snatch leadership away from us. I can’t afford to leave, father.” I refused with reasons, my mother sighed.

“This pack still has a Luna, doesn’t it?” My mother tagged into our conversation.

“Mother….” I called out.

“Don’t be afraid, with your father’s guidance I’m going to keep this Pack safe until you have an heir to pass it unto. don’t relent to get married because of us.” she said courteously, cupping my face into her hands.

“But I…” I started but my father interrupted me.

“You need to start preparation. We can’t lose members because of one selfish wolf, accept him because of the pack’s safety. that’s also what a leader does.” my father urged me sternly.

“Yes, father. I will get married to him because I don’t want my pack to suffer. But how about the elders? They definitely won’t allow mother rule because she… she’s your concubine who recently became a Luna.” I sadly reminded him and he sighed.

“Don’t worry, I have my way through them. They will learn to accept your mother, after all you did well.” he assured me with a smile and I nodded.

“I will announce your wedding to everyone tomorrow morning, you need to start preparation. Luna.” My father's statement left a warm smile on his lips.

I wish I could smile but I couldn’t because that beast was a hard nut to crack and I didn’t want to waste my time with him.

What can I do? I have to protect my pack as their Alpha.

“You are getting married?”

“My lady is getting married!”

If not Stella then who? The news spread faster than how it even got to the groom. Everyone in the pack already heard the news and the Betas jubilate as though they were having a bigger feast.

I was assured since my mother would step in as the new leader while I sort my way into the beast’s pack.

The servants started preparation for my wedding. The red fabrics were used in decorating the chambers and courtyards. The room for the bride had already been prepared and suddenly, I was eager to leave even though the wedding was happening in an interval of three days.

I wanted to know what being a Luna tasted like and also deal with Alpha Moses for putting me through something I don’t want.

“My lady, your wedding dress is here.” Stella said as she came into the room with it.

“So fast?” I exclaimed in shock.

I remembered giving them my dresses to make, it took them months. I only gave them my wedding dress design yesterday and now it’s ready.

 I received it from Stella.

“They were so happy that you are finally getting married so they joined efforts in making it snappy.” Stella informed me enigmatically, she was also happy that I was finally getting married.

She was the same person that disapproved of him, I sighed.

“I don’t know why I’m having such bad feelings about this.” I curled my lips sadly.

“Bad feelings? It’s your wedding, you should be happy.” she nudged my shoulder.

“What if he kills me? You know I have no feelings for him, what if he has an ulterior motive?” I asked impatiently, staring at her, she grabbed my arms.

“Nothing will happen to you as long as I’m alive.” she assured me confidently.

“Don’t you think I gave in easily? What if he thinks I’m too cheap?” I was worried, Stella laughed at the one that fit as she walked away from me.

“Don’t be ridiculous, my lady.” she said.

“My lord.” It was Noah’s voice and I invited him in, immediately.

“What’s up? Is everything ready?” I raised a brow.

“Yeah but that’s not the reason why I’m here,” he said.

“What is it?” I asked.

“It’s your step sister, Eva, she is back.” he informed me seriously.

“Eva?” I wasn’t expecting her, I doubt if anyone was.

Who invited her?

As confused as I was, I pushed my wedding dress into Stella’s hand and rushed out of my bedroom.

Just as I had thought, she was in the courtyard yelling at my mother.

Who let her in? My father sent her away as soon as her mother died, why was she back?

“I will not leave the way I left in the past!” she screamed, the servants were watching too.

“I will take everything that belongs to me! Everything that belongs to your daughter. The throne and her husband will be mine!” she shouted scornfully at my mother’s face with no fear, I stepped backward in confusion and fear.

She was here for me but what do I owe her?
