Chapter 31 - Leaving and returning to her hometown...
“I’m not here to sit and drink with you.” Liz rolled her eyes at him and crossed her arms over her chest. He arched an eyebrow at her as though seriously askance. “Why are you here then?”Liz’s mouth dropped open. “What?”“I asked you to come here to have a drink with me.”“I won’t have a drink with you –”“Uh-huh,” he raised a hand to stop her. “Don’t forget that I haven’t told your grandparents about your whereabouts yet. If you don’t listen to me, I’ll tell them about it.”“Are you threatening me right now?” She couldn’t believe her eyes.He just shrugged in response.Liz hated the guts of this guy and to think she was ever friends with him, disgusted her.She proceeded to take a seat in the couch opposite his but she was stopped by him. “Not there, here,” he pointed at the couch he was sitting on.“I’ll sit here,” Liz argued with him.Ivan snatched his phone off the table between them all while holding her gaze and then asked with a smug smirk, “Are you sure you want to do that?”

Chapter 35 - Liz told her grandma everything!
That night when Mrs. Walters came to check on Liz, she found her deep asleep. She’d heard her crying when she’d left her bedroom earlier. “She must have wept herself to sleep.” She mumbled to herself. She sat down beside her and then, lightly brushed her fingers across her forehead. Liz looked so worn out, she thought to herself as she gently shook her on the shoulder to wake her up. She gave her a few minutes and watched as she slowly pried her eyes open.Liz saw her grandma leaning above her. “Gram,” she gulped, sitting up against her pillows. “What time is it?”“”It’s seven o’clock. Dinner is ready…” her grandma murmured. “Do you want to go down or do you want me to bring yours upstairs?”“Did you eat?” Liz asked, looking at her with heavy eyes. The trip back home had been one hell of a ride. She felt so drained out that she hadn’t realized when she’d fallen asleep.“I wanted to eat with you,” her grandma reached forward and held her hands.“Can we eat here?” Liz did not want to go

Chapter 36 - She felt nausea.
Liz Walters stirred when her alarm woke her. Groaning, she blindly reached out to grab her clock and switch off the irritating noise, then flopped back against her pillows. It’s been a month since she’d returned home. Things have been so different from when she’d run away. She believed her grandma has spoken to his grandpa and the air has been strangely calm and light, not oppressive like it’d been before.Although at first her grandpa had seemed a bit angry and close off around her, he’d gradually eased up to his wife’s new set of rules and to having Liz back in the house. One night, he’d started a conversation, one which Liz was trying to avoid at all cost – regarding the family business. He wanted to inform Liz, not like he hadn’t done so before for a hundred times already, that she would have to take over the family business. She was already aware that she would have to take care of it someday but she wasn’t ready yet. And, her grandpa never wasted a second to educate her about th

Chapter 37 - Being pregnant would not be good!
“Ooh, no thanks. I’ll just have some juice.” Liz shook her head.“Dieting?”Liz laughed, dipping past her grandpa to open the fridge and look inside. There was some grape juice, so she poured herself a glass of that.“There’s a group meeting that we should be present for. Will you be at the office?” Her grandpa asked.Of course she will be! She was glad he changed the subject. Focusing on her office related work, on her career, the future – that was what she should be thinking about right now. Nothing else should be of any concern to her.“Yeah, what is it about?”“The IT department will be presenting a proposal of their model. They want to include the AI system. I think it might be good idea but…” he took a second before finally saying, “well, we’ll see.”Liz nodded, remembering reading about how quickly AI is being introduced to the public. It would indeed be great to try and see the way in which it can be used in the production of phones.“It will be my first time having a meeting

Chapter 38 - "Book me a flight to Ontario!”
Liz Walters swallowed nervously. “No, it’s okay! I won’t be long, and then I’ll be right back, good as new.” She attempted another weak smile.“Alright,” Xander gave her a nod before getting inside the elevator.Once the elevator doors slide closed, she exhaled a sigh of relief. She was so close to getting caught. If she’d blurted out anything she wasn’t supposed to say, words would have gotten directly to her grandpa. That was something she did not want to happen right now.She wore her jacket. It was getting cold outside. It would look odd if she’s said she was going out but didn’t take her coat.Walking out, she nodded a greeting at one of the receptionists she vaguely recognized. It didn’t take long for her to find a pharmacy which was not that far yet not that close to the company. It was a few blocks down the road to the left. She checked her surroundings before going inside. She went straight to the first lady she saw working behind the counter. The woman in her late thirties l

Chapter 40 - An unexpected encounter with Adrian!
Liz Walters woke to waves of nausea and staggered sleepily toward the bathroom, hoping she wasn’t about to throw up all over her bedroom floor. Thankfully, she made it, and washed her face afterwards, rinsing her mouth with water and blinking tiredly at her reflection.I look awful. Where’s that glow everyone usually talks about while pregnant? She thought.Downstairs, dressed and ready for work, she stared at the breakfast the cook made them for today and felt nausea so she searched through the contents of the fridge and the cupboards for inspiration. She needed to eat, but what would stay down? There was a packet of chocolate cookies, half empty, so she grabbed a couple of those and ate them. It seemed to help, so she packed some to eat in the office in case she couldn’t eat the lunch her grandma had packed for her and drank a glass of juice before heading to work. She felt apprehensive working alongside her grandpa since she was struggling with her emotions around people nowadays.
