Chapter 11 - They got caught!
Adrian Moore gave her an once-over and then, slowly shook his head from side to side. “Not really.” “What do we do then?” Liz looked at the front door and then, looked back at Adrian. “Why don’t you hide in my bedroom?” He suggested, already pushing her down the hallway, opposite to where her room was. He didn’t even wait for her response. Liz had no other choice but to run inside his bedroom, looking for a good hiding spot. Once she’d disappeared out of sight, Adrian rushed to open the front door. Like he’d predicted, it was indeed his grandma. “Grandma,” he smiled at the old woman whose smile faded away. She appeared frustrated and slightly pissed. “Did you just get up? Why weren’t you opening the door for me? What are you hiding like that? Is there anything you don’t want me to see? Or someone…” She drawled out, meeting Adrian’s gaze. Adrian’s heart dropped to his stomach. “Hiding…? Why would I hide anything from you?” “I don’t know. You tell me,” Mrs. Moore tilted her chin a

Chapter 12 - "I'm not a gold-digger."
It’s been a week since Adrian’s grandma had paid them a surprise visit. Liz had nothing to do except help Ben, short for Bennett Dubois, Adrian’s butler, clean and cook while Adrian went to work every morning. She really enjoys Ben’s company. The forty-year old man was very friendly, kind and funny and, was sometimes sarcastic. Unlike the people she’d known for being simply sarcastic because they weren’t amused, she took his hint of sarcasm as a sign that he was in a good mood since he would only do so to entertain her. She was focused on cleaning her bedroom when someone knocked at the front door. Ben wasn’t at the house. He had gone down town to buy some groceries. So, Liz immediately thought that he’d come back but she was wrong. It was Adrian’s mom… his step-mom. She’d recognized her from the pictures Adrian had shown her the other day. She couldn’t help but gulp when she remembered the conversation she had with Adrian back at the restaurant. This woman wasn’t his real mom.

Chapter 13 - "We should announce our marriage."
“What…? No! I’m just asking you to see whether you told her anything about the contract.” Adrian exclaimed, whispering at the last word. “I was just surprised when she offered to buy me. I didn’t expect her to have such thoughts about me,” Liz said with a shrug, looking down, her lashes hiding those expressive eyes, as if she didn’t want him to read too much into her words. His heart skidded. Is that what she thinks about me? Did she think I bought her to be my fake wife? I didn’t buy her. We signed a contract to work together. We’re together in this. He cleared his throat, ignoring the thoughts crossing his mind and fisting his hands to stop himself from saying anything he’d regret. "I know... she can stomp to any level to have her way." Adrian diverted his mind somewhere else instead. His bluntness seemed to take her by surprise. Liz's heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?" "Do you still want me to tell you?" He asked with an amused lift of one eyebrow. "She won't kill me

Chapter 14 - Ivan Smith, her ex-boyfriend!
“I’ve been trying to call you but your phone is unreachable.” Adrian said before adding, “I came home to tell you about it when I saw you and my mom having a nice conversation.” His voice was laced with sarcasm. “I should be thanking my phone then for being unreachable when you needed to tell me something important.” “Listen, I don’t want to argue with you. And yes, you should be thanking your phone for being unreachable. If it hadn’t, I wouldn’t have come back home to save you from my mom.” Liz scoffed. “As if I needed you to save me from her!” “Look who’s talking!” Adrian muttered to himself but Liz heard him. “I didn’t need you, okay. I’d have listened to her taunting till she’d have gotten tired of me and left.” Liz simply said. “What worse would she have done to me?” Adrian couldn’t believe her. “Words cut deeper than a knife.” “So? What are you trying to say?” “You were about to cry when I’d arrived. If I hadn’t come then, God knows what would have happened to you if I ha

Chapter 15 - "You kissed me."
“Liz?” Adrian nudged her with his elbow. “Do you need some time?” Gulping, Liz nodded at him. “Then, come with me,” he steered her to the left and down the hallway, opposite to where the banquet hall was. “Where are we going?” Liz asked him, tugging at his hand. “I have a personal room at this hotel. You can use it.” He explained. Liz let him guide her to the room he’d mentioned. She tried to keep her mind off Ivan and instead, watched as they passed by several rooms before stopping at a specific one. It didn’t have a room number. It had Mr. Moore engraved onto a silver plate on the wall beside the door. “I’d brought the keys just in case we’d get bored at the party. I never thought we’d really need the room.” He unlocked the door and opened it for Liz. Closing it behind them, he gestured at Liz to have a seat. “If you want to order anything, let me know.” Liz didn’t want to talk. She needed some time to be by herself. So, she left Adrian in the living room area and went into t

Chapter 16 - Making the announcement...
Adrian Moore saw indecision cross her face and knew she was tempted. He also knew he was right – it was a rare thing for this woman to just let herself be silly and relax. She’d made the decision to thrust the free-spirited part of herself away and focus on being someone this world would easily accept. It was shameful… really. Whoever made her this restrained and confused must have been orthodox. Especially for things as simple as the fact that this amazing women didn’t even know how to unwind on a beautiful evening like this one. He’d admit that this sort of party wasn’t her thing but if only she wasn’t this timid and guarded, she’d have eased herself easily into it. Unable to resist, he pulled her hand closer, lifting it to his lips. He had kissed her on the lips last Friday night, but hadn’t had a chance to explore all that soft, fragrant, feminine skin. Well, he wasn’t fully sober so… He wanted to feel the softness of her skin against his lips… badly. Her hand would do for a st

Chapter 17 - Ben's tea!
Liz Walters was at first, worried about being at such an extravagant party with a bunch of socialites and business men, considering she simply hated being part of some affluent gatherings. In the end, though, she was glad she listened to Adrian because she felt a lot better being herself. Adrian was, in truth, incredibly charming, friendly, funny and easy to talk to, Liz slowly came to realize that through the night. And, by the end of the night, he’d made her completely forget she was mad at him for taunting her about the way they’d met, and about commenting on her past relationship with Ivan. She’d also forgotten she’d promised herself to live by her grandparents’ principles even though she’d long run away from home. She found herself enjoying the night with him. She couldn’t help enjoying his company; nobody could. He was just the kind of man everybody wanted to be around. He helped his grandma move around at the party, dismissed her care-giver for the night, spent quality time d

Chapter 18 - Dreaming...
It was evening. Not yet dark – minutes before sunset, perhaps. The sky was a swirl blend of pink, orange and purple. The day’s last golden sunbeams pierced the clear sky, sending warmth cascading down on the earth, a shower of sun drops, and a heavy rain of dazzling heat. Liz felt it sizzling on her skin, warming every inch of her. Something had beckoned her outside – a scent. A musky, masculine smell filled her nostrils and intoxicated her, sending pulsing need flowing through her veins. She needed to follow it, breathe it in, and let it fill her completely. She was drawn to its source as if pulled irrevocably forward by some invisible strings that had latched around her body. The place changed to somewhere else and she found herself walking into the woods, surrounded by wild trees, loops of vines, the greens and browns of nature’s forest trees creating a vivid view. When she inhaled again, the air tasted of pine, oaky bark and musky earth. And man, oh, delightful, hot, spic

Chapter 19 - They'd become one
Liz Walters arched her back against Adrian, groaning, and was rewarded with the feel of his massive form pressed against her. He was naked, sweaty, his body impaling her with sensation, from the chest that seemed twice as broad as her back, all the way down his stomach, to the thick and fully erection rubbing against her bottom. “Yes,” she cried, every sense roaring to life, every inch of her in tune to the sensations that battered her like the strong winds of a hurricane. Liquid want flooded her sex and she was dying to be filled by him. She desperately wanted to turn around, to see his face, to behold the incredibly sensual man seducing her right out of the arms of another naked man. “No, she’s mine,” Ivan said. “I’m the one she’s supposed to be with.” She looked down at him. With his face obscured by the mist, he still lay below her. She’d completely forgotten about him. She could see the angry thrust of his sculpted jaw, the snarl on his lip. And she felt between her th

Chapter 20 - She was supposed to have this entire day to herself!
The first strange dream had been about Adrian appearing like a knight in shining armor and saving her from being trampled down by a huge mountain which was collapsing due to an earthquake. She’d come to think of it as Adrian saving her from being homeless and penniless. She couldn’t seem to know what to make of this second dream about him… She had a lot on her mind and this morning, she couldn’t even bring herself to act normal in front of Adrian without him noticing that something was wrong with her so she preferred to stay away from him – well until she’d feel okay to be around him. After forcing a few bites of the sandwich Adrian had made for her down her throat, she discarded the rest in the dustbin, her hunger satiated from the moment she’s read his message on that note. Gulping down the orange juice, she turned the TV on to watch and even though there was nothing interesting to watch, she stayed put. She’d do anything to get her mind off Adrian and make her forget even seeing
