Chapter 37

As I opened the door, my gaze stumbled upon the figure lying on the carpet. Immediately, the world around me started spinning in slow motion. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, as I rushed towards the figure. It was Clara - her body limp and her face pallid.

Gently, I slid my hands under her fragile form, feeling for any signs of life. I could feel the warmth of the small pool of blood that had gushed out from the wound on her head. Tears fell from my eyes as I touched her soft skin.

"Clara," her name fell as a whisper from my lips. I slapped her cheeks lightly and pleaded to her to wake up. But there was no response.

I could feel my heart breaking with every second that passed, knowing that the blood that was seeping out of her wound was gradually making her weaker.

"Baby please wake up!" I begged her, hoping for a miracle. But she lay motionless on the cold hard floor, and I knew that it was too late.
