CHAPTER 2

Philip and Rina weren't concerned about what Zoey was going through as she knelt on the floor crying out loud. Philip instead, dragged her from the floor and threw her out. He was disturbed by her cries.

Zoey fell to the floor and remained there as she kept on crying. Her mother was dead. The hospital called and told her her mother didn't survive it.

She shook her head and sat up. It was all a lie. Her mother wasn't dead. She stood up from the floor and began to run. The street was empty with no cars in sight. Running was the only option and she was ready to go to the hospital to meet her mother even though it was three kilometers.

She kept running until finally, she saw a cab in view. She waved at the cab and asked to be taken to the hospital.

Immediately Zoey got to the hospital, she ran out and went in. She rushed to her mother's ward and pushed the door opened.

"Mother! Mother!" she called seeing the room empty.

She looked around trying to see if her mom was just trying to prank her by standing at a corner of the room, but she wasn't there.

Zoey heart stopped breathing as reality began to hit her badly. "Mother please, come out!" she cried.

A nurse rushed in and stood behind her. "Miss, let me take you to your mother." she said, feeling pity for the young girl who seems to be going through a lot.

Without wasting anytime, she went after the nurse. The nurse took her to the morgue and seeing where she took her too, Zoey felt her body grow weak. Her legs were growing sour.

She stepped into the morgue as if being forced to go in. A covered body was in the middle of the room and with no one to tell her, she knew it was her mother. She slowly went too the body and pulled the covering away.

"Ma." she called. "Please wake up. Enough with the prank." she shook her. "Please stop this joke. You said we would go to your favorite garden tomorrow. You know tomorrow is my birthday right? I need to celebrate it with you. You can't just leave me all alone. How would I survive?" she cried but the older woman remained motionless, dead and gone from the world.

Zoey shook her head and fell to the ground. Her mother was truly dead. There is no way she is coming back to her.

....

IN A VIP WARD, SAME HOSPITAL.....

Five doctors were gathered around a young man, who laid motionlessly on the bed. They were all trying to examine him and were talking amongst themselves.

The young man slowly opened his eyes to the surprise of his brother standing aside. "Isaiah!" he called and rushed to him with tears in his eyes.

"Isaiah can you hear me?" he asked again, this time, this doctors were all quiet, watching him. Isaiah pulled down the oxygen mask and smirked at his brother.

"Why are these doctors trying to use my body to perform an experiment. Why bring in many doctors? Do you know how much it would cost?" he joked, in a low voice.

"It's not time to joke. You got me scared." his brother cried, with tears flowing down his cheeks.

"My little brother is cheeky huh? Do not let any girl see you like this or they might not want you. Girls don't like guys that cry so much."

"Mr Alcatraz, you shouldn't joke with your health from now on. Your condition is getting worst." one of the doctors spoke out.

Isaiah sighed loudly and sat up abruptly, much to the fear of Edward, his brother.

"Why should I be bothered? There is nothing I can do. My sickness doesn't have any cure. It will end up killing me anyway. I just want to enjoy my life and live as if nothing would happen. This life doesn't deserve my frowning face."

"Mr Alcatraz, I think there is a little bit of hope." one of the doctors spoke up. "There is this family who were rumored to have a special gift. After some series of test, it was discovered that it wasn't a rumor but true." he passed and looked at them. They were all listening keenly to what he has to say. He went on, "This family has a strong blood that makes them immune. They have an immunity to any kinds of sick. Their bloods were used to cure sicknesses and also for experiments. They must be people sent to earth directly from the heavens."

"Are you saying we should use their blood to cure my brother? Wouldn't that be cruel?" Eddie sniffed, staring at the doctor who spoke up. "There should be another way." he added.

"That is the only way we can think of. You will get well if we can get them."

"Are you talking about the Hall family?" a doctor asked, walking into the room. He looked at Isaiah and raised a brow. "I see you are awake. You hardly listens and I don't know what to do with you anymore."

"You should take care of me. You are meant to take care of me. That's why you are a doctor." Isaiah replied and clicked his tongue.

"I hate when you do that. Anyway," he looked at the doctors. "Do not think about the Halls. No one with that special blood exist again. Things have changed. Everyone from that lineage are dead. Remember they killed them all during the war? The enemies saw them as a threat."

The doctor who had spoken up shook his head. "You are correct and wrong at the same time, doctor Asher. In fact, there is one more member of these family that still has this special blood flowing through her vein."

He went on, "During the war, a pregnant woman from that family survived. She escaped and gave birth to a son. The boy grew up, hiding his ability from the world to prevent being killed. He started his own family and he gave birth to a boy. The boy grew with this same ability and then he had a daughter with his wife before he died."

Asher contorted his brows as the doctor told them the story of the Hall family. "You said a daughter?"

"Yes. That daughter of his is still alive and well. She is the only hope we have now and the last surviving member of that family with the special ability. We just have to find her and that is it."

"What is her name?" Isaiah asked curious about her.

"Zoey Hall."

....

Zoey walked absentminded towards the roof of the hospital. She has lost all her will to leave and had nothing to lose. First her boyfriend who betrayed her and then her mother, who died and left her all alone.

She has no family to call her own and no one to love her. Life is so cruel to her.

She got to the rooftop and walked to the edge. There was no one there and that was the perfect time to do what she wanted to do.

She looked down from the edge and tears fell down her eyes. Days ago, she would have being so scared and run away cause of the height, but she wasn't scared at all. She just wanted to do it. To end everything.

She looked up to the sky and bit her lower lips. The heavens were so cruel to her. They gave her nothing but cruelty. Why her? Why was she chosen to face these trials? If life was going to be like this for her then she shouldn't have being born. She was better off without being in the world.

She took her gaze back to the ground and took in a deep breath. She closed her eyes and moved her body, falling faced down.

Suddenly, a strong hand held her from behind....
