CHAPTER 40

After what seemed like forever, Zoey felt no pain or stab in her body. Or was she dead already?

She heard a low groan so close to her. So close that it made her heart ache. Slowly opening her eyes her breath seized when she saw that it was what she was thinking.

Isaiah was in front of her, holding her tightly and his face was covered with sweat and pain. She knew what had happened but didn't know how it happened.

She should be the one stabbed but how was he quick enough to have switched position with her and blocked her from getting the hit?

"Isaiah!" She called, with her voice low and her whole body shaken.

She gently laid him down and made his head rest on her thigh. "Oh my goodness!" she gasped seeing the amount of blood gushing out of his body.

"No, no, no," she cried and attempted to apply pressure on his side where he was stabbed.
