Cassy nodded and sighed. He could see the lines of stress about her eyes and on her smooth face. Her eyes were haunted and temporarily vacant as she was lost in thought. There was that look again. Something was bearing down on his mate and she wasn’t telling him what it was. Cassy was hiding something from him.

“What is it, Cass?”

She blinked, expression suddenly guarded. “Nothing. I just have a lot to think about these days. Like the ceremony in a few days and the speech I have to write! It’s a lot of things to think about.”

Lino’s eyes narrowed. He had felt every single lie down the bond. She was lying to him and hehad just confirmed it by the series of lies she just told. How could he ask her? He needed her to trust him completely. He needed her to know she could trust him with anything that bothered her.

Lino sighed, brushing his fingers through his hair. “I will have the old texts searched for. There should be something we can find on this said ritual.”
