The murmurings and mutters increased in intensity. Suspicious eyes seized her up unmercifully. Others were disbelieving and others simply averted their eyes. Olivia looked at Maya who was still processing the abrupt turn of events.

"What makes you think I am the spy?" She challenged the guard. "You think I have nothing better to do than become a traitor?"

"It's not me who has the proof but my brother. He saw you last night, eavesdropping right at the door of the Alpha's private library. Or are you going to deny that too? Luna?"

An echo of disbelief rippled through the crowd. Olivia did not miss the undertone of mockery when he called her by her title.

"No doubt you were looking for some critical intel to divulge to your people or whoever it is that employed you,"

Olivia was about to speak when Maya intervened. "Those are serious allegations not backed up with a shred of proof. You better be cautious about the things you say. Have you forgotten who you are speaking to?"
