Chapter Forty Three

The buck pumped its legs its heart beating manically as it ran already tiring as the Gammas chased it down every time it tried to veer away they chased it back toward the Alpha. It tried its best to leap fallen trees and dodge this way and that but everywhere it turned was a set of razor-sharp snapping teeth sending it back the way it had come. Sirius watched his body quivering in anticipation of the kill, saliva dripping from his powerful jaws as the buck approached. He pricked his ears and steadied himself hind legs tensed as it came close and then with an effortless leap he sailed forward and sank his teeth into its neck twisting to one side using all his weight he heard the satisfying crack of bones breaking as he ended its life. Moving quickly he carried the prize deep into the woods hidden from any prying human eyes and the five of them made short work of the rich fresh venison, leaving nothing but the bones stripped bare.
