Chapter Thirty One

He placed his hand on my head and ruffled my ears,

‘I know you do buddy but it is a huge risk’

A young woman in a smart uniform was approaching us and Jack stood up smartly and saluted,

‘General Connors, I am delighted to meet you’

She saluted him back and then offered him her hand,

‘Brigadier Hastings, I am very pleased to meet you too. How can I be of assistance?’

Tamara Hastings had risen through the ranks of the Royal Air Force very quickly. She had joined as a seventeen-year-old and quickly outsmarted everyone in her unit passing out as their best young recruit in half the time of her peers. By the time she was nineteen she could fly any aircraft they asked her to and saw active service in Iraq and Afghanistan earning the medal ribbons on her chest.
