Chapter Seventy Three

Eric

I counted six heads in the dark. Gabriel took a shot at the one closest to us and I shot another in his gut. The others started firing aimlessly, so I pushed ahead and kicked a man in the chest. I shot the back of his head when he bowed over. I ducked from the swing of a punch directed at me, then I shot the man in his chest and twisted my gun ahead before I shot another twice.

I could feel a pang of slight pain in my chest, but the thrill of the fight gave me a kick of adrenaline. Another man lumbered forward and attempted to throw a punch at me. I grabbed his fist with my hand and twisted it. He groaned in agony as I continued to twist it.

"Come on, Eric," Gabriel called as he walked past me, ignoring the man I held onto.

In the darkness, I could see a large dark stain across the back of his shirt. The wetness gleamed with the little moonlight that filled the hallway.
